I am an experienced teacher of six years now, always open to challenging myself by learning new skills best suitable for my students. In the Summer of 2018, I began my journey to a Masters degree through Ball State University's Gifted and Talented Certification program. I finished this in the Spring of 2021. This 12 credit hour program provided me the skills to differentiate curriculum for High Ability students in self contained and cluster model classrooms for 4 years to present day.Through five strong years of professional growth development through the Indiana Science Initiative, I have been given the chance to learn from education experts from Universities in Indiana. With this experience I have fallen in love with the incorporation of STEAM within the classroom and have been able to put these skills to practice. Since 2019, I have discovered grant funding to provide my students with Sphero EDU robots to gain access to methods of learning vital computer science standards. Using these robots, I have been given the opportunity to design curriculum that bridges a connection between literacy and Next Generation Science Standards.In the fall of 2021, I was awarded a grant from the Indiana Sports Corp in partnership with the Big Ten Conference. With this grant, I was able to start the first extra curricular Robotics club and team at my school, Allisonville Elementary School, using Lego SPIKE Prime robotics kits. In the 2022 and 2023 school year, I have the goal of providing our school with Lego SPIKE Essentials kits to expand outreach to younger grade levels.I am so grateful to learn from and be so strongly challenged by my 21st Century learners.
