Through coordination with the head football coach and staff, I planned, scheduled, and implemented VSU football’s strength and conditioning program for 96 athletes. As the first football only strength and conditioning coach for VSU I laid the ground work for a successful program. I researched the latest trends in strength training, conditioning and nutrition and used this information to organize a detailed strength training and nutrition program. I met with athletes weekly to discuss training goals, go over nutritional needs and advised them on how to use these tools to better them as a player.

I worked with all five sports U-Turn offered in their training program, approximatley 150 athletes. Researching the exercise needs of each sport and creating training programs that tailored to the needs of the athletes. I implemented new programing, creating a speed and agility program and private strength and conditioning sessions each of which saw success. In an initiative to create advertisement for the strength and conditioning program I planned an event, developed a budget, found sponsors and advertisers to promote. I managed a staff of two assistants, also reaching out to the local university, becoming a part of their internship program, in which each semester I would hire two interns to assist in the program.

I saw an opportunity in Powhatan Sports Center, a new athletic training facility that needed a strength coach but did not yet know it. While their I implemented a speed training course, private strength and speed training sessions, designed and helped furbish a weight room and created a general fitness class for young athletes after school. I also attended PSC’s summer baseball camps, to lead the young athletes in warm-ups and general fitness, while also advising camp leaders in proper hydration, stretching, and exercise techniques to be implemented during camps, for safety purposes.
