ARA Homework Clubs offer free tutoring to high school students from refugee backgrounds who have been in Australia for five years or less. They are a safe and supportive space for young people to engage in education with our volunteer tutors, while also building confidence and emotional stability.

In my role as an Educator, I am responsible for working as a part of a team to ensure the children in our service can engage in a range of fun learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment. Throughout my time working at Keithcot King's OSHC, I have expanded my experience working with children aged between four and twelve years by facilitating age-appropriate play activities with their peers and staff alike.

• Oversaw and managed the Northern Communities of Hope (NCOH) youth drop-in centre with a team of program coordinators, with the goal of establishing a secure and motivational environment for the disengaged youth in the community.• Organized a range of activities within the drop-in centre, including afternoon tea, sports, board games, craft, job search support, and referrals to relevant services.• Developed and executed the weekly programming schedule, with close attention to detail and strict adherence to high standards.• Contributed to the creation and implementation of policies designed to facilitate critical processes, such as volunteer recruitment and onboarding.

As a tutor, I conducted educational courses aimed at adults from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, with an emphasis on enhancing their written and verbal skills. The teaching techniques were customized to accommodate the increasing proficiency levels of the learners.
