As YWAM MS' Company Secretary, I was responsible for monitoring and ongoing maintenance of legal administration and compliance of YWAM Medical Ships, including: maintaining compliance with ACFID, ACNC and ASIC standards, monitoring legal requirements and overseeing implementation of any updates, reporting back to YWAM MS management on the ongoing status of YWAM MS’ legal compliance, briefing YWAM MS management on developments or issues of interest as relevant to YWAM MS

In this role, I managed a variety of portfolios, including policy management, compliance, monitoring & evaluation of YWAM MS' PNG-based development activities, and grant management including applications, MEL and reports. Additionally, I functioned as the primary liaison between YWAM MS and the Australian Council For International Development (ACFID), assisting YWAM MS to maintain compliance and operate according to sector best practice, and overseeing implementation of changes when these became necessary. As an extension to this role, I was also one of YWAM MS' key Safeguarding officers, providing training on Child Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEAH) to YWAM MS personnel.Key achievements included: participated in the creation and publication of five YWAM MS Annual Reports, overseeing three; participating in the execution of four funding grants from proposal to completion, and overseeing preparation and undertaking two ACFID Code Self Assessments and four Exceptions Reports to maintain YWAM MS' ACFID membership.

In this role, I led a team of up to 130 professional and general volunteers to undertake outreach activities in remote, rural parts of Papua New Guinea and was responsible for: liaising with medical and marine managers to ensure appropriate outreach field planning and personnel monitoring, liaising with local partners, reporting to YWAM MS management on the progress of outreaches and ship operations, monitoring and maintaining positive morale on board, troubleshooting problems as they arose, speaking at events to promote YWAM MS, and overseeing events being hosted aboard the ship.
