For the last 25 years, I've been producing electronic music under the moniker freezedream. A labour of love, I am fascinated by experimenting with electronic music and challenging myself to push the boundaries of what is possible with limited musical hardware.Previous projects include music created using Nintendo Gameboys and Sega Mega Drive retro video game consoles from the 1980s and 1990s.Always endeavouring to explore various genres, I have released multiple albums and made contributions to both demoscene productions and most recently the awarding-winning Tanglewood video game soundtrack.I seek to use my gift of creativity for good, assembling electronic and analogue sounds into pieces that reflect the human experience and shine light in a sometimes dark world.I would very much like to be involved in your next video game project, so if you're looking for something different, get in touch!

Back in late 2020 I was working only 3-4 days a week and we were slowly coming out of pandemic restrictions. I have a keen interest in additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping and the valuable impact they can bring to research and product development. I was motivated to use the skills I'd been developing in printing flexible electronic sensors to create custom flexible circuit boards more generally. So, I started a microbusiness - Melody Innovation. My goal was that the custom circuits and sensors would not just be flexible, but thin, lightweight and low cost and being created locally in Australia would have an ultra-fast turnaround time compared to offshore manufacturers. For a bit over a year, I worked to build up my capabilities and even planned to delve into creating new inks for printing functional organic circuits and sensors. What happened next, was my university contract came to an end and I was privileged to be granted a brand new full time research job in industry.Alas, working full time I could no longer sustain the Melody Innovation microbusiness, so I've ended the (ad)venture (for now).I'm still extremely passionate about collaborating and sharing ideas in the areas of additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, 2D/3D design, materials science, inks, adhesives, flexible/stretchable electronics and sensors, so if you're of a similar mindset, please do get in touch!

As part of the vital search towards improved therapeutic agents for the treatment of neuropathic pain, the central nervous system glutamate receptors have become a major focus of research. The synthesis of two new biologically active 3'-cycloalkyl-substituted carboxycyclopropylglycines, utilizing novel synthetic chemistry has been accomplished. The reaction between substituted 1,2-dioxines and an aminophosphonate furnished the cyclopropane core in a single step with all required stereochemistry of pendant groups. In vitro binding assays at metabotropic glutamate receptors revealed selective activity. In vivo testing in a rodent model of neuropathic pain indicated one amino acid significantly and dose-dependently decreased mechanical allodynia.Secondly, triazolyl amino acids were investigated as potential AMPA receptor agonists. In vitro binding assays showed selective, though weak activity. In silico molecular docking gave insight into possible binding modes.
