I am a Chartered Accountant formerly of an engineering background and enjoy drawing on the skills from both professions in paving my professional career path. My skills and passion are firmly in management accounting and data analysis. I am currently working at the University of Tasmania in a predominantly management accounting role. Much of my role is turning large volumes of data into concise and readily understood information for decision makers to use. This is a passion of mine and is enhanced by my strong analytical skills and advanced excel skills, including: power BI, pivot and query; macro writing; dashboards; graphs; tables; and advanced formulas (including array formulas). I also pride myself on relating to and effectively communicating my work to colleagues and clients alike for if it is not understood by others, then outcomes will not be delivered.I also have a passion for process improvement and simplification with the aim of increasing efficiency and giving time back to myself and my team, thereby freeing us up to add value. I have recently started to utilise MS power apps, such as MS Power Automate, to automate routine tasks by leveraging the power of MS Sharepoint and MS Teams. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and the Director of Operations for the largest and most complicated college in UTAS, the College of Sciences and Engineering (CoSE), I have financial responsibility for CoSE, in particular, budgets, forecasts, reporting and ad hoc analysis. I currently manage a team of six and enjoy this side of my role particularly training staff and helping them grow in their roles and achieve their individual goals.
