In July 2012, I faced a critical turning point after years of struggling with substance abuse, culminating in a life-changing moment following a weekend in Manchester. My journey began at 16 with my first encounter with alcohol, leading to a night in the hospital. By 28, I had experienced arrest for cocaine possession, financial bankruptcy, and the loss of important relationships. Sitting in a railway station after three sleepless days, I realised I needed help and sought treatment.After completing a 28-day rehabilitation program, I discovered a deep commitment to helping others navigate the challenges of addiction. This led to the founding of the London Centre for Addictions, where we offer comprehensive treatment for individuals struggling with substance abuse and sex addiction. I am passionate about de stigmatising addiction treatment and frequently share my work as a keynote speaker at national and international conferences. My presentations often focus on pornography addiction and the Inner Child Model for addressing addictive behaviors, underpinned by Dr Allan Schore’s Affect Regulation Theory.I had the privilege of being trained and mentored by the late Dr. Thaddeus Birchard, a pioneer in sex addiction treatment in the UK. Today, I continue to expand upon his groundbreaking work through the development of my neurobiologically informed, Integrative Approach for Treating Sex Addiction” (IATSA) model, under the guidance of US sex addiction specialist, Dr Alex Katehakis. I also conduct training workshops for clinicians, providing them with the tools to effectively treat sex addiction using this evolving model.Currently, I am pursuing a professional doctorate in the treatment of compulsive sexual behavior disorder, and I serve as an addiction consultant for several bespoke treatment centres across the UK and Europe. My academic contributions include guest lecturing at universities on the topic of pornography addiction and paraphillic disorders.I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a qualified member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC).Additionally, I am the co-author of ‘Understanding Your Inner Child and Overcoming Addiction: A Treatment Manual and Workbook’ published by Routledge.
