    Galveston County Health District's EMS program known as Galveston Area Ambulance Authority or Galveston EMS (GEMS) is a $7.3 million dollar operation that covers Galveston Island and many of the smaller communities on the mainland of Galveston County. In addition to providing both 911, emergency responses; GAAA is also charged with operating a non-emergency transport (NET) division that offers up to Critical Care Transport. GAAA is unique in that it supports the objectives of the public health department through GCHD as well as working with the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management to assist with disaster response. As the Director of Emergency Medical Services I am responsible for all aspects of the program including budget formation, revenue cycle management, medical quality assurance & improvement, program development and expansion, and daily operations. Under my direction Galveston Area Ambulance Authority has accomplished many goals including: * Investing nearly $3,000,000 in capital into the agency at no additional tax payer cost over three years* Operated every fiscal year budget with a surplus* Conducted an extensive equipment replacement campaign that reduced injury and liability* Implemented an ALS first responder program* Maintained full operations during Hurricane Harvey with no total equipment losses* Increased 911 & NET divisions at no cost to tax payers
