Galveston County Health District's EMS program known as Galveston Area Ambulance Authority or Galveston EMS (GEMS) is a $7.3 million dollar operation that covers Galveston Island and many of the smaller communities on the mainland of Galveston County. In addition to providing both 911, emergency responses; GAAA is also charged with operating a non-emergency transport (NET) division that offers up to Critical Care Transport. GAAA is unique in that it supports the objectives of the public health department through GCHD as well as working with the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management to assist with disaster response. As the Director of Emergency Medical Services I am responsible for all aspects of the program including budget formation, revenue cycle management, medical quality assurance & improvement, program development and expansion, and daily operations. Under my direction Galveston Area Ambulance Authority has accomplished many goals including: * Investing nearly $3,000,000 in capital into the agency at no additional tax payer cost over three years* Operated every fiscal year budget with a surplus* Conducted an extensive equipment replacement campaign that reduced injury and liability* Implemented an ALS first responder program* Maintained full operations during Hurricane Harvey with no total equipment losses* Increased 911 & NET divisions at no cost to tax payers

As the EMS Chief I am tasked with advancing the service into a greater financial position while increasing patient care. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the department I also maintain compliance in accordance with CMS, HIPAA and DSHS standards. • Increase revenue stream without incurring any additional costs to taxpayers• Advanced standard of care which resulted in an increase in positive patient outcomes• Designed and implemented a quality assurance and improvement program that reduced spending, increased efficiency and also reduced liability• Developed better working relations with other city departments to implement cost saving measure and develop an environment that was more conducive to fostering team work

Worked as a field paramedic providing emergency medical services and critical care with lifesaving interventions to maintain patient stability while improving patient outcomes to a community of 25,000+ residents in a busy, urban department. Initially hired as an In-Charge Paramedic and promoted to EMS Chief. Provided critical care and lifesaving interventions to maintain patient stability and improve patient outcomes. Additionally I was responsible for training and recruiting new hire Paramedics.

I work with both new and existing clients to help streamline their business processes to become more efficient and effective using ZOLL's suite of healthcare services software. Coordinate the implementation of ZOLL software along with physical asset management. Work alongside other vendors of the client's to meet tight time schedules and deadlines while developing key solutions to a variety of client situations. In addition I develop streamlined processes to increase efficiencies, reduce customer costs and improve NPS.

Started off as a field paramedic working my way up to Operations Manager. Created strategic business development plans that consisted of heavy knowledge of a variety of business types and associated competitors. Developed new market entry plans, operating cost reduction plans, and budget development for the companies owned by KAM-SYD, including Bay Star. Maintained compliance with local and state requirements for permits and certifications while constantly revising operational policies. Job duties also included managing a fleet of 60 vehicles including maintenance budget. Worked along side marketing team to execute multiple large contracts with area businesses to increase customer base significantly. Promoted three times while at KAM-SYD throughout two of the subsidiary companies.
