Research Associate
Research Associate Ii
At Enable Medicine, we're focused on generating key insights for spatial biology data. As a member of the Laboratory Operations team, I interfaced with clients to supply antibody oligo conjugates, design biomarker panels, stain and image tissues. In this position I leaned on my previous experience with Akoya's instrumentation and assays to support laboratory efforts, maintain instruments, and verify marker performance by thoroughly assessing each marker. In the 8 months I spent at Enable, I was able to contribute to projects aimed at personalized care, mechanism of action studies, and drug discovery efforts.
Research Associate Ii
Akoya Biosciences is a spatial biology company primarily in the realm of proteomics. They manufacture microfluidic instruments, fluorescent microscopes, and assay kits/reagents. As a member of the R&D Product Innovation team, my primary goal was to expand assay capabilities for their newest instrument platform, the PhenoCycler Fusion (PCF). I accomplished this goal in a wide variety of projects like: developing new formulations to enhance assay performance, exploring new antibody conjugation methods, automating in-situ hybridization assays (RNAScope HiPlex12), and developing a spatial multiomic assay capable of detecting mRNA transcripts and cell surface proteins to the tune of 100+ biomarkers on a single tissue. In all of these efforts, I leaned on my wet lab skills to design and execute experiments aimed at answering specific questions in assay development and analyzed them using a variety of image analysis tools. I routinely presented experimental results, new analysis methods, and research areas of interest to the broader R&D group.
Research Associate I
Quality Control Chemist Ii
At Thermo Fisher I was a member of the QC Department within the Specialty Chemicals group where we synthesized more than 100 products associated with oligonucleotide synthesis in relation to qPCR and sequencing. Utilizing a variety of analytical methods, we measured the purity of dye amidites, solid-phase synthesis supports (for oligonucleotide synthesis), and dye sequencing terminators. As a QC chemist I managed multiple ongoing projects to analyze reaction intermediates or final products via HPLC, NMR, UV-Vis, and GC.
