Responsible for managing the daily activities involved in the administration of the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for Farmers program. Provides leadership in the Southern Region (13 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands) for approved commodities and producers in the TAA for Farmers program. The program provides cash payments and free technical training designed to help producers run their businesses more effectively. Producers that qualify are eligible for 12 hours of training and access to a business planning consultant. Manages a group of 30 university and extension faculty and educators from across the south that developed technical assistance curricula and are delivering assistance to over 6,000 farmers and fishermen in the region. Also manage 70 business planning consultants working in the Southern Region. Provides guidance on program requirements and deadlines, provide training to stakeholders on risk management topics and do presentations at research, extension and producer meetings throughout the region.

Research was focused on economic impact analysis, direct marketing, local food systems and life cycle assessments. Independently manage multiple research programs involving researchers, city, county, state and federal policy makers and agricultural industry leaders. Projects include study design, analysis, electronic database research and the preparation of written reports and oral presentations for the following: direct marketing curriculum for farmers, the economic impacts of the Agriculture Sector on the state economy of Arkansas, the impacts of regional growth and tourism, development of a value-added soil amendment product that diverts agricultural and consumer waste from landfills and assesses the economic feasibility of the processes involved, logistical considerations for the movement of high nutrient content agricultural wastes from nutrient surplus areas to nutrient deficit cropland. Responsibilities also include providing input to community leaders, congressional staff and agricultural industry leaders on multi-state watershed management concerns. Duties included: meeting facilitation, manuscript preparation, grant preparation, public presentations and supervising activities for two student employees.

Served as the sole inventory and financial auditor for western Missouri and was responsible for conducting audits and completing daily financial reports. Managed own office, completed repossessions, supervised inventory and maintained good working relationships with 150 business managers in the region. Job required independent work load management, report preparation and maintenance, and superior communication and conflict resolution skills.
