1. Facilitate the interaction between General Motors South Africa (Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Material Handling and Material Control) and Suppliers in terms of the GM 16 Step Supplier Development Process and especially the 8 re-active Steps, representing GMSA interests at all times. 2. Verify that Suppliers have an ongoing process for continuous improvement and assist with implementation where necessary. 3. Monitor Supplier Quality performance (Major disruptions, PRR’s & PPM’s), review data for monthly reports, drive focussed improvement plans with problem suppliers and provide input into new business sourcing decisions. 4. Ensure effective operation of the process for problem reporting, immediate containment and permanent corrective action within specified time periods, for all supplier related problems. 5. Implement the necessary containment processes if supplier actions are ineffective in containing the problem. 6. Conduct Quality Workshops with the supplier to resolve specific quality issues using standard Problem Solving Techniques. 7. Convene Supplier Quality Improvement meetings to resolve chronic quality problems. 8. Recommend re-sourcing activities when supplier performance does not meet expectations, and where quality issues remain unresolved. 9. Liaise with GM International Operations on Supplier Performance issues and support WWP initiatives. 10. Plan and ensure Process Control Plan Audits are conducted to pro-actively pre-empt and eliminate potential quality problems. 11. Work in accordance with operating procedures, work instructions and guidelines applicable to the Division, attend meetings and complete administrative tasks as required by Supervisor/Manager
