Direct and manage Transmission and Distribution training strategy and operating objectives, ensuring that department personnel understand and carry out plan appropriately. Direct staff in the assessment, design and implementation of training and development programs to meet needs of Transmission and Distribution Operations mission and objectives and improve customer satisfaction both internal and external. Ensure improvements in Customer Service employee competencies. Consult with all levels of management and employees to analyze needs. Develop, coordinate and implement organization effectiveness plan/activities for all Customer Service areas. Establish and communicate performance standards, provide staff development and create an effective open work environment. Direct quality team in development, implementation and revisions of quality assessment programs for all facets of Transmission and Distribution Operations. Direct integration of quality assessments, training and coaching to initiate continuous improvement of customer service quality and satisfaction. Formulate recommendations for changing corporate strategies based on customer needs/complaints.Position Responsibilities include - Directing needs analysis and evaluation, development/presentation of training, consulting, and Customer Information System support. Direct the development and implementation of quality monitoring, coaching and improvement initiatives. Direct the evaluation, and analysis of issues identified through the quality process, training and other data sources to drive and support internal process change where appropriate or provide interventions to address the needs. Knowledge/experience of organization effectiveness interventions. Thorough knowledge of APS policies and procedures. Experience in planning and coordinating quality improvement programs. Position Responsibilities include; delivering electrical grid operations training to instruct employees in systems operations, transmission planning, and distribution operations and prepare them for ECC Supervisor certification and job duties. Coordinating and implementing all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training for the electrical grid operations training program which includes analyzing needs, job, and task requirements, designing and developing training and evaluations, implementing training in all settings, and evaluating the effectiveness of the training programs. Using the systematic approach to training process, presenting electrical and/or operations training, including simulation scenarios, demonstrated understanding of NERC reliability standards, and WECC requirements in the NERC standards, working on multiple projects simultaneously, production deadline-driven environment, professionally interact with diverse groups on a wide range of technical matters, staying current with changing technology and apparatus, providing continuing education for system operators that is approved by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), initial training for system operators, and training for operations staff working with APS Balancing Authority facilities.

Position responsibilities include; Maintain power system reliability by ensuring operations are in compliance with applicable NERC and FERC standards and PJM operating and emergency procedures. Direct and coordinate the operation of the PJM bulk power electric system, including coordination with other power systems in the NERC eastern interconnected region to ensure reliability of service and maximize system economy. Direct the real-time operation of the bulk power system. Continuously monitor and analyze and control transmission system facility power flows and voltage patterns and determines necessary corrective actions. Direct the corrective actions (i.e. transmission switching, PAR adjustments, generation and re-dispatch) to maintain the loading on the transmission system within NERC and PJM reliability criteria. In close coordination with members, manage system emergencies and direct the necessary corrective actions (from loading available generation, implementing load management curtailment programs, implementing a voltage reduction, to interrupting firm customer load) to relieve the emergency conditions. Evaluate and coordinate scheduled transmission outages of the transmission elements within the PJM territory, and grants final approval for the switching of facilities in and out of service. Coordinate operations, resolve problems and direct assistance on an inter-regional basis with other systems outside PJM. Participate in training programs and provide training to new power dispatching candidates, other dispatchers, and familiarizes other employees about system operations. Document the operation of the system for later use in after-the-fact system analysis. Assist in the development, implementation, and improvement of new systems to provide PJM’s members greater value and enhance operations. Maintain power system reliability by ensuring operations are in compliance with applicable NERC standards and PJM operating and emergency procedures.

Position responsibilities include; directing the operation of the power generation systems, to include four (4) Combine Cycle Units, twenty (20) combustion turbines, and several coal and oil fired units, in compliance with criteria, operating instructions and guidelines established by Conectiv, PJM, NERC, and FERC. On a continuous basis monitoring and evaluating generation conditions and performance, anticipating problems and implementing strategies to avoid or react to environmental, operating, and market conditions. Managing the implementation of energy contracts in accordance with Conectiv, PJM, and FERC guidelines. Acquiring and disseminating generation information, notifying the various transmission and gas entities and appropriate Conectiv management. Maintaining open and, timely, and accurate communications with all generating plants. Surveying market conditions to optimize generating assets and to acquire market information. Recording, logging, and maintaining accurate records of generation data. Securing transmission paths and creating NERC tags. Dispatching coal fired, combine cycle and combustion turbines based on cost and load demand. Scheduling unit outages, regulating steam units and providing condensing capabilities on combustion turbines. Working with gas suppliers, transmission personnel, and plant personnel to ensure maximum efficiency of company assets. Responsibilities include, selling power, starting and stopping combustion turbines and combine cycle units, maintaining scheduled power loads and meeting load demands. Interfacing directly with PJM personnel and software. Maintaining EMS system for plant control and combustion turbine control. Maintaining proper certifications (MOC, ITP, NERC), working 24-hour shift work to ensure reliability and optimal power delivery. Working within a company associated with the largest inter-connection in the world (PJM) and maintaining their required certification.

Position responsibilities include; Maintenance and Project management, responsible for a $300,000 project budget, at seven power plants in Texas and New Mexico. Responsibilities include, staff training, personally trained several new employees for our company. This included demonstrating software application as well as interfacing with SAP, methodology, understanding of P&ID’s, and system descriptions.
