About Nathan Mayes

I enjoy electrical, firmware and software engineering both professionally and as a hobby. In my garage I have various lab equipment, solder iron/rework station, microscope, acid etching baths and servers used to create my ideas and sharpen my skills. My earliest hobby project was a small robot (PHIN) that I acid etched the PWB, assembled the components and coded the algorithm all within my garage. These early experiences gave me key skills in layout, component selection and hardware design that helped to promote me at Bently Nevada. Over the last five years, my career and hobby projects has greatly advanced. Professionally, I design, layout and test mixed signal (high-speed digital and analog) products. As a hobbyist I design Bluetooth, USB and FPGA+SoC products from schematic to the user interface on a PC or Android phone. The understanding of the whole system is something I enjoy learning both professionally and as a hobbyist, Because of these experiences, I was able to innovate a solution for a multimillion-dollar problem. I created the hardware, help manufacture the electronics, coded the microcontroller, created the software, generated the statically analysis and wrote the test plan/record to root cause this problem. After the problem was resolved, I ensured all design files, manufacturing diagrams and test results was properly documented for future use or redesign.
