I have been involved in critical lifting operations for the past 11 years as both a rigger and crane operator. Prior to changing career paths to become an offshore trainer and assessor, i spent 5 years in the offshore oil and gas industry, predominately as an offshore crane operator.I have operated on a variety of installations and in various working environments, most recently working for three years on a 6th generation semi-submersible drilling rig with some of the most up to date and modern cranes and equipment in the industry.I have experience operating a wide range of offshore cranes including:- NOV subsea heave compensated knuckle boom crane - a variety of lattice boom cranes ranging from 10T to 100T with radius's up to 65m- pipe handling knuckle boom cranes- box boom cranes- riser gantry cranes- traveling gantry cranesMy initial role with Farstad Shipping Offshore Simulation Center (FSOSC) was to develop and deliver a training and assessment package for industry based on the Australian unit of competency PMASUP305A (Operate Offshore Cranes). To compliment this training and to reach a wider market share I assumed the lead role in the development of the Stage 3 Offshore Crane Operator assessments aligned to BS7121 Part 11. I am currently providing these assessment these services to industry.Other courses and training i have developed and deliver are aligned to the skill set PMA08 (Offshore Crane Driver). These units of competency have been developed by industry to align with international crane training and standards accepted world wide.The courses have been accredited by the Training Accreditation Council (TAC) and are nationally recognized . As a result of these courses Farstad Shipping Offshore Simulation Center has now become a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).I am keen to pass on the wide and diverse range of experience and skills i have gained to the offshore crane operators of tomorrow..

Singapore / North West Shelf

Was part of the commissioning team during the ship yard construction phase in Singapore.Working in a supervisory position on a new build vessel, I was given the responsibility of developing, documenting and implementing procedures and safe work practices. Some of these procedures have been adopted by and implemented by rigs throughout the fleet. Trained and supervised assistant crane operators in the safe and efficent operation of all rig cranes. Direct supervision of team of 9. Team leader of emergency response team. Member of confined space and heights rescue teams. Bp Refinery

Developed lift plans in accordance with safe lifting practices, company policies and site requirements.Shut down maintenance at BP refinery.Construction at Boddington Gold Mine.Steel erection. Pipe work. General rigging.Read and interperet plans.

Assist crane operator with supervision of deck crew and management of decks.Operate 65T lattice boom cranes plus gantry crane.Member of emergency responce team.

Wagerup Cogeneration Project

I worked for John Holland Power during the ALCOA Wagerup Cogeneration Project as a leading hand rigger and crane operator. My main role during the project was to supervise and coordinate a team of riggers during the assembly and erection phase of the project. This required me to communicate with management and organise a variety of contractors to ensure that time commitments were met.• Safely operate and maintain 60t Tadano mobile truck mounted crane• Safely operate and maintain 25t Franna crane• Supervision of the assembly / construction and erection of transmission towers• Stringing of conductors• Clamping in of towers• Preparation of foundations and assistance in stub setting• Quality assurance / tower erection revision supervisor

Kwinana To Fremantle Upgrade / Alcoa Pinjarra Efficiency Upgrade

Whilst employed with Downer Power Transmission I was involved in two projects. The first being the Alcoa Pinjarra Efficiency Upgrade followed by the Kwinana to Fremantle line upgrade and modifications.I was employed as a transmission / tower rigger throughout the two contracts. Newman

I worked for Rabmint Construction predominantly as a rigger for six months, though operated the 20T Franna on occasions. The first 5 months were construction followed by a month long shut down.
