In the Technical Operations - Engine Systems department, I coordinate between contractors, ship operations teams, planners, drafters, and insurers to maintain and upgrade engines on Carnival cruise ships. I draft department procedures and create document templates and diagrams to standardize and streamline department practices. I generate technical specifications and contracts, outlining work required by contractors and material provided by contractors and shipyards, along with scheduled dates and milestones. I proactively communicate technical information to program management teams by collecting weekly report for each project and generating a week in review for company executives. I interface with contractors and analyze feasibility studies to ensure preliminary activities are accomplished. I ensure efficient teamwork with the estimating and sourcing departments to plan, execute, and settle projects. I manage all aspects of ship repair including: requisition material, cabin scheduling, assessments of installed equipment, in-service engine equipment installation and support, and ensuring drawings are updated in a timely manner. In order to provide direct oversight and interpersonal communications, I regularly travel to job sites in Miami and Port Canaveral.

As part of the US Navy Diesel Maintenance Strategy program and using my active security clearance, I forecast engine operation and maintenance requirements on Navy ships. I work independently and manage the schedule, goals, and milestones. I construct Excel tools to collect and analyze ship engine history data to project future engine use. I maintain Life Cycle Maintenance Matrices for both the San Diego, CA team and the Mayport, FL team to track when maintenance items are complete and to schedule maintenance items before they are overdue. I build tools covering both the 1 Variant and 2 Variant Littoral Combat Ship classes of 32 ships. Every week, I lead meetings across multiple contractors and government representatives. To assist in the briefing of admirals, I design graphic aids showing the progress of maintenance items, individual ships, and the class as a whole. I liaise with shipboard crews and port engineers to verify accuracy of ship databases.

As an engineer in the Quality Assurance department, I analyzed government contracts for required inspections and checkpoints to create a repair database. I coordinated contractors, subcontractors and Department of Defense representatives to observe checkpoints on US Navy Guided Missile Destroyers to ensure maintenance items were complete per MILSPEC standards. I signed and submitted all required checkpoint forms to government by required due dates. Afterwards, I maintained database with up-to-date ship repair information.

In the Engineering Liaison Department, I solved all manner of problems on new-construction Virginia Class Submarine. Typical resolutions I provided included steel and dissimilar metal weld repair instructions per military specifications, ultimate tensile strength and loads analysis for structural components and threaded fasteners, and discrepant material adjudication, including repair cost versus replacement cost consideration. In my time, I authored 400+ Engineering Reports with <1.5% error rate, below the department average. To better understand the issues, I ship checked & conducted hands-on testing and evaluation of components, including receiving my photography permit to document shipboard conditions. For design changes and recurring discrepancies/failures, I liaised between Trades and Design to resolve complex submarine construction issues to provide innovative corrective action. These issues include failure analysis of charcoal filter binding, relocating piping, determining allowable load on dive plane fasteners, providing proper repair instructions of electrical components, and out-of-tolerance components.

I developed multiple 3D models of sensors and electrical components for use in training and electronic sensor modeling for the US Army. I designed lighted green screen room for virtual reality simulations for training personnel on new equipment. I manuf++actured and tested optical electronic cable prototypes to link legacy sensors to modern equipment to outfit US Army training units. In a Quality Insurance role, I performed inspections on machined parts, rejecting out-of-tolerance parts to ensure safety and operability.

I used 3D CAD software to draft down-hole oil well tools, and participated in the testing of the prototypes. I also updated all of the firm’s outdated engineering drawings to current standard. In the field, I performed down-hole oil well maintenance such as replacing oil pumps, casing, and separated rods, and installed piping to bring an oil treater into operation.
