I am responsible for all aspects of running the store and a team of employees. I made sure that all necessary tasks were assigned and carried out to the required standard. I monitored and made sure all sales targets are met and I was also responsible for the cash and HR activities carried out. I also oversaw deliveries and warehouse, stock levels, stock distribution between my own store and others within the UK (see if I can get stock transferred, so if it doesn’t work in that store that I could sell it within my store). Over the years I have continued to develop my knowledge of area this helps with product knowledge of what works and what doesn’t in term of what sells. As part of being the one of the senior managers within the area Head Office look to me to report back and possible new product we could introduce to get more sales out of the store and derange for stock that would not sell and well and take up room on the shop floor. As well as my standard manager role I also help with organising support for other stores within Scotland and my team this year as given more than 400hrs to other store.

I was responsible for all aspects of running the store and a team of employees. As well as the normal responsibilities of a store manager due to the nature of the store at Glasgow Fort I had to liaise across Glasgow with the other managers to get staff on a weekly basis due to the store having no staff. I also had to work with the Area Manager and other stores to make sure we had stock in due to the store being turned off for replen. This allowed me to get the most out of the store and get the correct stock in that would sell and get the most sales out of the store before it closed. The main challenge of this was to make sure my other store still ran as needed and look at any issue that came up while not being there. This was made hard by Glasgow Fort needing more time, so 80% off my time was spent there, however looking at the closing figures I think I got the best out of the store

I was responsible for supporting the manager and running the store while the manager is away. This is involves all aspects of from team management to back room stock control. While in the roll I have learnt how different stores operate and how to adapted and overcome the challenges faced. I have also gain new experience in merchandising in a different store with restricted space. As well as my store roll, I have also helped with a New store opening at Fort Kinnaird and continue to help the area as much as I can

I was responsible for the maintenance of and repair of radios from a number of clients, as well as programming for major radio systems which included Scottish Mountain rescue as well other clients. I worked independently and dealt with customers and contract holders. Other responsibilities included removing and fitting radio in a number of type of vehicles.

I was responsible for the store and a team of employees (and also did this in my previous supervisor role in the absence of the store manager at Falkirk store). I make sure that all tasks are complete. Due to being a new manager I looked at what the store currently did and looks ways in which it could be improved, so that sales could be hard and targets met where possible. I also look at the back area at the store and looks at ways that I could improve storage to make it more effective to find items and looked at what the store missed in term of stock. I developed a rapport with my new team and the centre to try and get the best out of both. I overcame problems within my team to ensure that the team was successful, efficient and worked well together.

In this job, I have gain skills working leading a team of people, as well as working independently on tasks and communicating with customers on a day to day basis. As part of the management team, I have under took tasks of organise events as well as stock for the shop. I have also looked after standards for example booking on deliveries as well as sorting problems with them as well. I also as part of the role open the shop as well cash up for end of night. Take responsible of the shop on a regular basis when the manager is not in.

In this job I am require to work in a team as well as independently on a day. To provide customer service on a counter with the shop the main counter that I work on is butchers, where I have learn many new skills as working on my time management to make sure that the preparation is done for the next before the end of the day. Other skills is also in customer service and as well as keeping to a health and safety scheme which is used when working with food is includes dating and preparing food.

As a part of my university course I completed a yearlong placement. I developed skills in the work placement to able me to be a more affective employee within the sector of engineering. As part of my roll I also completed projects and gained a great understanding of a project life cycle within the engineering industry. These project included working on control system on chemical plants which included PLC systems as well as control and instrumentation loops, intrinsically safe loops and also electrical infrastructure. This was all done to ISO 9001 standard and BSI regulations.

Through the time on my internship I developed many skills which included problem solving as well gaining experience in the lab environment which enabled me to gain a good understanding of development of systems. The project made me understand how crucial it is to work to a timetable and I gained further skills in PCB development and C# coding.
