EnerMech provides construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance services to the upstream and downstream oil and gas sector. The upstream components of the Santos GLNG and Shell/QGC Venture QCLNG projects include thousands of CSG wells, linked by a vast amount of HDPE and carbon steel gathering systems and trunklines, taking gas and water to field compression and processing plants. Employed as a Mechanical Fitter for shutdown works, role duties include (but are not limited to):■ Working with QGC E&I Technicians to install 2 new flow meters on 2 of the FCS’s (field compression stations) as part of a major turnaround event/shutdown), as well as flange management for joint integrity and leak prevention, hi-torqueing and tensioning at the FCS and Ruby Jo CPP (Central Processing Plant), and pumping TEG to remove moisture from the gas■ Providing visible safety leadership by ensuring all risk assessments are completed and complied with to ensure Zero Harm for people, equipment and the environment, ensuring compliance with isolation, PTW and LOTO systems and procedures, and holding meaningful safety interactions to raise site safety awareness (and same for all roles below)■ 4-week shutdown on GLNG facilities, involving extensive flange management for joint integrity and leak prevention, as well as installing new PSV’s (pressure safety valves) and ball valves, and conducting nitrogen purging and leak testing■ Reading and interpreting plans, drawings, P&ID’s, isometrics, Standards and Codes to ensure site activities are executed to required specifications with correct materials (and same for all roles below).

Stacker Upgrade At Bhp’S Mt Whaleback Iron Ore Mine - Pilbara Region, Wa

Monadelphous provides engineering, construction and maintenance services to the oil and gas, mining and refining, and civil infrastructure sectors, and they were contracted to assist with the upgrade of a Thyssen Krupp stacker to increase capacity from 10,000 TPA to 13,000 TPA. Employed as a Mechanical Fitter, role duties included (but were not limited to):■ Installation of larger motors and drive pulley, as well as new drum rollers, idlers, chute and guarding, and precision laser alignments of drive couplings.

Mount Isa Mines - Mount Isa, Qld

Glencore’s MIM operations include the Enterprise and X41 underground copper mines, the George Fisher lead-zinc underground mine, and associated concentrators, smelters, filter plants and mines power station. Employed as a Mechanical Supervisor to ensure the safe, on-time and within budget delivery of site construction projects, role specifics included (but were not limited to):☛ Key Construction Projects■ Upgrading a conveyor system to increase capacity from 35t/hr to 75t/hr, which involved the installation of new and larger chutes, additional new structural beams, a new motor and gearbox, and precision alignment and testing of the conveyor■ Removal and replacement of corroded structural flooring (3 stories high) in the copper smelter plant■ Installation of a new filter press and associated hydraulics. ☛ Associated Role Accountabilities■ Delegating, coordinating, supervising and quality checking of daily mechanical construction activities for a team of 8 workers (tradesman and riggers), completing work observations, providing technical and procedural guidance, facilitating toolbox meetings, and ensuring the overall delivery of scoped work packages within schedule, cost and HSE parameters ■ Identifying critical tasks, planning accordingly, directly communicating needs and timelines, focusing resources on tackling prioritized items first, making confident decisions, and ensuring the on-time availability of project materials and resources■ Developing a unified team culture based on respect and consideration for others no matter their age, gender or cultural identity, and a mutual strive for the achievement of operational excellence.

Origin Energy Turnaround & Santos O&G Assets - Surat Basin (Qld) & Moomba (Sa)

Upstream Production Solutions (UPS) and Global Engineering and Construction (GEC) provide design, construction and maintenance services to the onshore and offshore oil and gas sector. UPS were contracted for turnaround maintenance services for scheduled 4-yearly shutdowns on Origin Energy owned assets (e.g. gas plants and pumping stations) in the Surat Basin. GEC were awarded construction and maintenance contracts by Santos for their conventional oil and gas assets in the Cooper Basin (Moomba). Working on the Origin Turnaround for the first 2 months, then moving to GEC for Santos, duties included (but were not limited to):■ Installation of wellhead lease packages for Santos pipelines, as well as removal and reinstatement of process piping systems for well commissioning, hydrostatic testing of pipe spools, PSV (pressure safety valve) calibration, and routine maintenance of mechanical components on Ariel reciprocating gas compressors and metering skids■ Ensured compliance with risk assessments and work instructions (e.g. JHA’s, JSA’s, Take 5’s and SWMS’s), and actively identified and controlled hazards to ensure Zero Harm for people, equipment and environment (same for all roles below)■ Maintained compliance with site PTW (Permit to Work) and LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) systems for standard and high risk activities, installed a range of mechanical isolations and ensured effective returns to service (same for most roles below)■ Identified critical tasks, planned accordingly, tackled prioritized items first, ascertained any technical issues, rectified those within my sphere of my competency and escalated those outside (and same for all roles below)■ Flange management of bolted flange connections for joint integrity, hi-torqueing and tensioning, and precision alignments■ Conducted detailed Quality Assurance inspections on a range static and rotating equipment, and signed off work packs.

Qrail’S New Generation Rollingstock (Ngr) Project - Brisbane, Qld

The QLD Government is contributing $4.4B over 32 years to fund the NGR project, which includes the design, construction and maintenance of 75 new passenger trains for SE QLD, design and construction of a purpose-built maintenance centre at Wulkuraka, and procurement of 3 QNGR training simulators. Employed as a Mechanical Fitter, duties included (but were not limited to):■ Evaluated the technical quality and standards of new electric passenger trains supplied by Bombardier from India and upgraded or modified braking systems, hand rails, window frame supports, cab door latches and hood retraction frames to ensure compliance with Queensland Government standards and regulatory QA/QC requirements■ Utilised Maximo CMMS (computerised maintenance management system) for drawings, planned maintenance recording, logistics and inventory tracking■ Performed dynamic testing and carriage levelling activities, and conducted detailed QAQ/QC inspections.

Yara Pilbara Ammonia Plant - Karratha, Wa

Clough AMEC were awarded routine maintenance and shutdown services contracts for Yara International’s existing liquid ammonia plant (Yara Pilbara Ammonia Plant), and the technical ammonium nitrate (TAN) manufacturing plant on the Burrup Peninsula in WA. Employed as a Mechanical Fitter for a planned shutdown at the liquid ammonia plant, duties included (but were not limited to): ■ Removed and replaced redundant process piping and valves to optimise the distribution network, maintained heat exchangers at regular intervals, and maintained butterfly valves to regulate in-pipe flows ■ End-to-end flange management of bolted flange for leak prevention, raising suitable flange faces for high-pressure gas seals of up to 1,500LB, hi-torqueing and tensioning, and precision alignments■ Read and interpreted P&ID’s to understand piping plans and process flow systems, to identify the location of pressure vessels to be tested, and to ensure correct hydro testing procedures.

Chevron’S $46B Wheatstone Lng Project - Onslow, Wa

Chevron’s Wheatstone LNG project includes LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 MTPA and a domestic gas plant. Bechtel was Chevron’s engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contractor for structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) packages including the installation, connection, testing and start-up of the LNG trains, gas turbines, refrigeration compressors and utilities. As a Mechanical Fitter on LNG Trains 1 and 2 and domestic gas plant trains, role duties included (but were not limited to):■ Safe and efficient isolation and reinstatement of process plant and equipment, hi-torqueing and tensioning of bolted flanges for leak-free connections, valve installations, hydro testing, installation and precision alignment of motors and pumps, and worked in unison with plant engineers to confirm correctness of system descriptions, and on final system walk downs ■ Completed ITP’s (Inspection and Test Plans), ITR’s (Inspection and Test Records) to verify the following of design details and witnessing by 3rd Party Inspectors, and NCR’s (Non Conformance Reports) to address any deviations or quality issues■ Developed positive relationships with client representatives to ensure clear understanding and overall compliance with QA/QC and inspection requirements, and completed punch lists for outstanding items in the plant.

For Bechtel On Qgc’S Qclng Midstream Project - Curtis Island, Qld

Walz Construction were contracted by Bechtel (the Head EPCM Contractor for QCLNG Midstream) to provide construction, hydro testing and commissioning services for LNG Train 2. As a Mechanical Fitter, role duties included (but were not limited to):■ Installation of processing piping, pumps and valves, flange management for leak prevention/joint integrity, PSV calibrations, hydraulic torqueing and tensioning of bolt and studs, alignments, line blowing, and hydro and pressure testing of systems■ Pre-commissioning and commissioning works including the completion of ITP’s, ITR’s and NCR’s, and QA/QC of punch lists.

Mount Isa Mines - Mount Isa, Qld

Accountable for the coordination and supervision of site construction, maintenance and upgrade projects by a team of 15 tradesman and riggers, including the completion of work observations, providing technical and procedural guidance, facilitating toolbox meetings, and ensuring the overall delivery of projects within schedule, cost and HSE parameters, key projects included:■ Rebuilding, installation, removal and/or shutdown maintenance of mechanical and structural components within the copper and lead smelters, including ID and stack fan repairs, rebuilding of hydraulic power packs, installation of new white metal bearings, and the removal and installation of ducting, exhaust dampeners and expansion joints■ Installed new motors on stack fans, repaired new electric motors and gearboxes, removed storage tanks and pipe work, replaced cooling water systems, and installed cable trays and supporting parts ■ Flange management for joint integrity and leak prevention, hi-torqueing and tensioning, and precision laser alignments■ Fire damage and structural repairs, removing fire damaged beams and re-installing feeder screws and screw bearings.

I completed the first 1.5 years of my apprenticeship on civil, industrial, commercial and residential projects for Bolton Concrete Pumping, then moved to Tropical Reef Shipyard where I completed my apprenticeship (then stayed on as trade qualified mechanical fitter and turner) working on up to 100 metre vessels in a 3000 tonne capacity slipway.
