• Worked as a Data Analyst to optimise long-range forecasting of fresh produce sales in order to improve product availability for customers and to reduce business waste. • Developed a high level of proficiency in SQL, writing efficient queries to collect, organise and compile data into informative outputs.• Root caused problems with the current long-range forecasting model and developed solutions to be integrated into this model by the software team. • Collaborated with supply planners to identify problem areas with the current forecasting model. • Improved an interactive Excel dashboard to easily communicate the output of the forecasting model to supply planners.• Developed an understanding of supply chain within retail; visiting a depot and a product ranging centre. • Enjoyed applying analysis skills to a retail setting where there were opportunities to make an immediate impact for both the business and consumers.

8 week research project funded by the Microbiology Society: Harry Smith Vacation Studentship. I carried out this project in the Howe Lab at the University of Cambridge. Here I investigated the effect of stress on dinoflagellates, microscopic algae that are intracellular symbionts with coral. I attempted to mutagenize a key photosynthesis gene to improve dinoflagellate stress resistance. Mutant genes were introduced into dinoflagellates by biolistic transformation and analysed by RT-PCR. I also explored the sensitivity of dinoflagellates to temperature and a toxic sunscreen component. This part of the project was self-directed and was the most enjoyable and fruitful regarding results. I presented my research at the annual Plastid Preview Symposium (held at the University of York) as a flash talk and a poster.

As Communications Officer, I oversaw the social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) for the Cambridge Rowing Tank, a newly opened indoor 8-seat rowing training and teaching facility.Additionally, I also oversaw the social media (Facebook, Instagram) and website for Downing college Boat Club, one of the most successful student boat clubs in Cambridge. These roles involved running advertising campaigns on both Facebook and Instagram, timely posting on social media and a major content update for the website.

8 week PHYCONET (BBSRC) funded undergraduate summer studentship in the Howe lab.In this project I researched and characterised the transition from phototrophy to heterotrophy in the freshwater dinoflagellate Esoptrodinium. I used PCR to screen for the loss of chloroplast encoded photosynthetic genes in different strains. I presented my data in a lab meeting and wrote this project up in a report.

In this role I was jointly in charge of a £2,000 recruitment budget and the organisation of ~50 novice rowers into crews for multiple outings each week. One of my key roles in the recruitment process was the design of several posters and flyers to promote the boat club.
