Startup company researching many projects, mostly based around scraping websites. The main work was done using C# to write both ASP.NET and Desktop applications to present the data, which was obtained using a C# scraper and stored in custom object store systems (as well as more traditional RDB and basic file systems as object stores). Extensive use of the Developer Express custom controls to build interfaces for both ASP and Desktop.Recent project is using Quasar and Vue to build Cordova apps for managing agents for a collaborative social presence. The app uses responsive styling and works with the camera to get photographs and video and works with the agency's management to curate and recommend what the agents should post.

  • Vcommerce

    Vcommerce Jul 1998 - Aug 2009
Member of the founding team for the Vstore product which allowed people to open storefronts with products supplied by vendors contracted by us and handled all parts of the order lifecycle from credit card collection to tracking order delivery. Vstore changed its name to Vcommerce and expanded its operations to include product and order management for established vendors such as NewEgg and FYE. As the lead architect, my initial duties were the Product and Category management systems. This included designing the databases in Oracle, writing a Data Access Layer (in both Delphi and Java based on JDBC) and writing the interface layer. As the company evolved into VCommerce, my duties changed to be mainly about data storage and manipulation. This included advanced import programs of both custom and XML based data sets from vendors, and the production of XML catalogs for our clients to use on their storefronts. Both the import and export catalogs could grow to well over millions of products. During this time, I was also the main developer liaison for client and vendor issues. This involved researching tickets based on missing products, whether they were from vendor imports or not showing on client storefronts. Resolution was usually a mix of changes to underlying data to hotfixes in the import or export code to deal with unique situations. My last project was to move the system from the custom-built indexing and search system to a SOLR based system. This required the creation and maintenance of SOLR servers, a custom XML creation system, that was similar to the catalog outbound system, and the ability to manipulate the server settings using a GUI. This system included the extensive use of facets and a custom GeoCode library to make searches much more location aware.
