As a U.S. Department of State intern specializing in China Policy, I conducted in-depth analyses on a broad spectrum of critical issues impacting U.S.-China relations. My role involved geopolitical strategy, economic analysis, security analysis, human rights advocacy, policy analysis and recommendations, diplomatic engagement, and cultural insights.I completed the following while assigned to the Department of State during my internship:Assessed China's strategic initiatives and their implications for U.S. foreign policy.Evaluated trade policies, economic trends, and market access issues to inform diplomatic negotiations and policy decisions.Analyzed China's military advancements, cybersecurity threats, and regional security dynamics to support national security objectives.Researched and reported on human rights conditions within China, contributing to the formulation of policies promoting global human rights standards.Developed comprehensive reports and briefings for senior diplomats and policymakers, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations.Assisted in the preparation of bilateral talks, drafting policy papers, and supporting high-level diplomatic engagements to strengthen U.S.-China relations.Studied cultural and social trends to enhance cross-cultural understanding and inform public diplomacy efforts.Through my internship, I honed my analytical skills, deepened my understanding of international relations, and contributed to the formulation of effective U.S. policies towards China.
