Consultant / Instructor
Saudi Arabia has a terrorism problem within its borders. Other Arabian Gulf countries and multi-national terror groups strongly desire to destabilize the strongest power in the Middle East. The Presidency of State Security has seen fit to seek help from the experts in maritime Counterterrorism (CT) business. In this case, former top-tier operators from the United States, and we have answered that call.Today, The Blue Oasis team and I consult with interior Saudi Arabian CT leaders, helping them innovate their systems for addressing future problems that may present themselves. Program analysis, design, and execution is our specialty (complete overhaul or ground up construction). My individual assignment was to design, construct, implement the basic Maritime Special Operations Selection & Training pipeline for Saudi Arabian Special Security Forces. Here, we assess and select hundreds of raw recruits from boot camp, and ready them with the skills they will need for the advanced training stages. Simultaneously we test whether they possess the grit to become Saudi Arabia's most elite interior security soldiers.
Director - Maritime Selection & Training
Recruiting, selecting and training the right talent is CRUCIAL for any organization! This is especially true in military Special Operations! With a 30+ year history of success in this arena at DevGroup, as director, I focused on taking care of the instructor team and their careers, so they could do what they do best. To do this, I focused on individual professional development from proven institutions such as Wharton Business School and the University of Texas' McCombs School of Business. As a result, the team acquired vital outside perspective to add their own improvements to the Selection & Training program and send better quality selectees to the Joint Task Force. Since my time, the team has enjoyed a 100% promotion rate to higher positions. Many attribute part of their success to increased perspective from the above efforts, and my type of servant leadership that allowed them, during this period to be a more authentic version of themselves.
Program Manager - Maritime Technology - Experimental Squadron
With the speed of technology faster than ever, innovation in warfare is vital! In 2016, the Commander of Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DevGroup) realized warfare is changing, and we must innovate or die. He saw the speed that tech regions like Silicon Valley are innovating, and saw fit to create a new squadron to partner with them, study their success, and mirror their methods. The leadership of DevGroup's newly created Experimental Squadron (X Sqdn) gave me plenty of room to work! As Program Manager, I quickly identified some of the future's most dire threats in the maritime special operations realm, and moved fast to assemble a cross-functional team of engineers, tech analysts, academics, contracting officers, and Maritime Special Operators. Together, we quickly built a program to address these critical threats. My individual role within the team was to create revolutionary concepts of operations for future maritime technology. I then wrote and delivered proposals for outside funding from strategic offices and research labs in Washington DC, successfully gathering more than $22 million for prototyping and experimentation. Within months, we gathered the necessary money, materials and prototype technology and assembled them to start experimentation to prove both the technology and concepts of operations. Today, the program is officially sanctioned, completely funded, and well on its way to delivery into the arsenal!
Team Chief - Mobility
Led a team of eight highly skilled Mobility Operators through the necessary training and maintenance cycles to ensure maximum readiness to insert / extract Special Operations Forces. Managed numerous mobility platforms (boats and vehicles) and ancillary equipment, worth over $8M. (NSWDG)
Special Operations Craft - Captain
Managed the crew, safe navigation, maintenance and use of weapons systems, and daily operations of an 81-foot Special Operations Craft in support of the Global War on Terror.
