Our theoretical model suggests that ASCOS-Augmented State of Cellular Oxidative Stress- mediates low socioeconomic status effects that leads to health disparities in affected groups. Our team is also actively engaged in the implementation of evidence based research training programs and interventions to enhance student training and development to increase diversity in the biomedical workforce.

The 40th Infantry Division ("Sunburst Division") is a modular division of the United States Army. Following the army's modularization the division has become a four-brigade combat team with National Guardsmen from throughout the Pacific/Western United States and Oceania. Its division headquarters is located at Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, California. Division HQ is currently deployed throughout Central Command (CENTCOM).After seeing service in World War I as a depot division, it was reorganized as the National Guard division for California, Nevada, and Utah, before seeing service in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Later, the division served in Korea and some of its units were designated for Vietnam. The division was later reorganized redesigned as a National Guard unit completely within California.

Chief Medical Planner. The chief medical planner (LTC, AOC 70H67) assists the division surgeon with developing and maintaining the medical troop basis. He recommends task organization for mission accomplishment. He is the chief of the medical plans and operations cell. He is the primary architect of the division Combat Health Support (CHS) plan, based on the division commander's intent and guidance from the division surgeon. He monitors brigade and division operations to ensure adequacy of CHS for the supported force.

Operational officers in the armed forces are tasked with planning, implementing and managing combat operations and field exercises, using tactical weapons systems. Each operational officer is responsible for the training, welfare, morale and vigilance of the soldiers and junior officers under their command.Operational officers are also responsible for planning and implementing troop deployment, weapon systems and communications in training, as well as in battle. Regular training exercises are carried out through combat simulations and practical exercises.

Build combat power, O/O (on order) 40th Brigade Support Battalion deploys and provides integrated sustainment support to the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) IOT (in order to) conduct full spectrum operations and (DSCA) defense support to civil authorities. We are an organization composed of an HHC (Staff and Food service), Co A (Distribution), Co B (Maintenance), and Co C (Medical). We are truly a battalion of diversity and it is through this diversity that we are able to complete our mission of supporting the 79th IBCT, across a full spectrum of missions. In the 40th BSB we train and build to respond to any contingencies federally and within the State of California (i.e. natural disasters, floods, fires, earthquakes, etc...)
