Nathan Ross Work Experience Details
  • Vertex Pharmaceuticals
Executive Director - Project Leader And Head Of Human Assay Technologies
Vertex Pharmaceuticals Dec 2017 - Present
    Boston, Ma, Us
Leading the Human Assay Technologies department in Boston Research, comprised of the Functional Genomics, Human Disease Modeling, High Throughput Screening, and Chemical Biology teams. Our goal is to deliver new targets and compounds for Vertex diseases of interest using human disease relevant assays.
  • Novartis
Investigator Ii / Investigator Iii / Sr. Investigator I / Sr. Investigator Ii
    Novartis Jul 2010 - Nov 2017
    Basel, Baselstadt, Ch
Leading the Hit Discovery Sciences Group in Chemical Biology and Therapeutics at Novartis. Responsible for well-based screening activities with collaborators across CBT and established DAs, spanning biochemical to cell based phenotypic assays. Our goal is to make screening accessible to our collaborators through our Facilitated Access / Open Access screening model, while maintaining state of the art automated screening systems to support 1536-well assays when projects are HTS-ready. We enable compound-target ID for lead molecules using arrayed full genome genetic reagent sets + compound synergy screens along with other chemical genetic approaches through collaboration with internal target ID teams. Whenever possible we use the most relevant cellular models including primary cells, patient derived iPS cells, engineered iPS cells, and 3D models. Ultimately, we deploy our technology to advance the goals of CBT and speed compound discovery (and target ID) in the most relevant cellular models with the goal of delivering leads suitable for development into drugs.
  • Broad Institute
    Research Scientist I & Ii
    Broad Institute Jan 2009 - Aug 2010
    Cambridge, Ma, Us
As a member of the Chemical Biology Platform developed assays, conducted high throughput screens, and follow-up assays for both Broad and NIH MLPCN projects with the aim of discovering novel probe compounds. Championed projects targeting histone demethylases, histone deacetylases, kinases, and RNA targets using biochemical and cell-based assays in the areas of cancer and neurobiology.
