Manufacturing Process Engineer
Manufacturing Engineer / Machinist
Oversaw and built spacecraft heat exchangers for Nasa Orion program; from raw material to components that are brazed together, and final machining of high dollar low production run heat exchangers. Parts and fixtures were modeled in Solidworks and programmed in Camworks, utilizing 5 axis Hurco milling machines to reduce setups and improve throughput. Proved out processes and perform first piece inspection utilizing height gages, optical measuring machines from MicroVu, and Nikon CMM. Work with quality to address issues with parts before parts were made. Familiar with Omax waterjet, EDM wire and sinker, laser cutting, and proficient using CNC milling machines.
Manufacturing Engineer
Setup a new production area to address the cleaning of additive manufactured parts; equipment layout and specifications for processes. Designed and built custom equipment, consisting of pneumatics, pumps, filtration, and valves for powder removal of DLMS additive manufactured components. Fixture and tooling to cut setup time as well as process time for a complex manifold, reducing overall time by a third. Fixture designs for solvent flushing, pressure test, adhesive bonding, and dry film masking.
Design Engineer
Pratt & WhitneyTest rig design, consisting of layout and motion controls for a 360° probe disk that takes pressure and temperature of airflow through engine cavity. Used NX to design housing and support case, analyzed models in Ansys to meet pressure, structural, and modal requirements. Worked amongst a multi-disciplined team of structural and thermal engineers for detail design of a new turbine exhaust case. Used Teamcenter to produce interface documentation, tolerance analysis of components, along with model revisions and layouts.United Technologies AerospaceWorked with engineers to design tooling to meet schedule and process requirements of spacecraft components and assemblies. Designed weld fixtures, braze fixtures, handling plates, gages, leakage test tools and vibration testing tools. Provided detail tolerance studies to meet engineering requirements. Produced tolerance studies and drawing from layouts to meet ASME Y14.5, Geometric Tolerance and Space Systems requirements. Tool drawings created to meet Space System internal Tool Design process. All drawings met layout requirements for minimum walls, along with stack up and positional location of components.
Mechanical Engineer
Professionally trained on PTC CAD software, Creo 2.0 and Wildfire 4.0, along with GD&T, I provided engineering services to clients. An FEA analysis of a client's auxiliary equipment cart to meet shipping requirements was performed. The large complex cart was simplified to its large components; engine, pumps, tanks, condensers, and frame. The major parts were reduced to solid shell models consisting of basic shapes rectangles and cylinders. The frame was simplified to shell models. These simplifications saved drastically on the run time of the analysis. To model the chain tie down mounts, pivot connections along with a beam model were used to prevent any moment from going into the frame. Through various passes of the analysis and feedback, the client revised their frame to reduce the overall stress hot spots.Working on site for a client, I provided modeling expertise and drafting of subsystems of a fuel cell power plant. I processed engineering change orders from manufacturing engineers, verified bill of materials, and completed COTS. I also was tasked with overseeing the modeling and engineeringdocumentation of cost reductions to the power plant through pilot and production power plant releases. Working with a senior engineer, I took the various cost reductions the design engineers had created and added them to the power plant, pulling new part numbers when needed, and revising the engineering documents as needed to created new versions to meet the cost reduction plan management had implemented.
