About Nathan Hirsch

A recent graduate of the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering with an undergraduate degree in Astronautical Engineer and a Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on propulsion. Previously, I operated as one of the two lead engineers at USC's Liquid Propulsion Laboratory (LPL). Managing a team of 20+ members through multiple research and design projects simultaneously. Handling administrative roles, budgeting, timeline, as well as providing general supervision to design, manufacturing, and test operations. Providing insight and guidance to the various teams from past lab experience, as well as industry experience. Before that I acted as a lead feed system design and integration engineer developing a LOx/Kerosene feed system for a flight vehicle with an apogee of 40,000ft and supporting fluid ground support. The engine has a mass flow of 1.1454 kg/s with a mixture ratio of 2.09 with regenerative cooling.Initially, working on the GOx/Kerosene Hydra Feed System, designing dual static fire capabilities with a target chamber pressure of 725 psi each. Developing a Simulink software to model the entire system virtually to prepare for the integration of electronic pressure regulators to allow dual thruster capability.Previously working at USC's Space Research Engineering Center working on the development of an autonomous CubeSat docking system. Worked as the software sub-team lead employing C++, IR triangulation, Arduino, and LIDAR to make the procedure work.
