About Nathan Scharf
As a professional, I operate at the intersection of strategy and success—engaging every possible solution to optimize the development and delivery frameworks that support quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction within global supply chain, logistics, and product inventory operations. When I started my career 10 years ago, I began establishing myself as a trusted subject matter expert, advisor, and management powerhouse that faced the challenges plaguing operational frameworks head-on and with confidence. My goal has always been to bridge the gap between businesses, their products, and the growth-oriented solutions that best serve them—leveraging a pragmatic, analytical approach to business intelligence and data management, forecasting and demand planning, and end-to-end distribution logistics that ensures alignment and maximizes growth in competitive global markets. My track record for success is supported by an unparalleled work ethic and professional integrity and I believe that my success is rooted in that of others. In this industry, that includes the customer. Where the end-user fails, the product fails. Where the product fails, management has failed. By challenging those around me to exceed their own expectations and by challenging myself to continuously be learning and evolving in all that I do, I’m able to offer not just successful, but sustainable solutions that grow with us. To top it off, I bring to the table a cultured and global perspective that allows me to partner with clients, understand their needs, and drive consistent value through sound decision making, troubleshooting, and service-level excellence.

Global Operations Service Planner
I was brought on to help develop the entire end-to-end service process. The company was new to SAP and the needed somebody dedicated to the Service Module to help IT create custom SAP transactions that would fit our requirements, create dozens of end-to-end test scripts and SOP's that I would later use to train Finance, OM, Service Technicians, and Materials Management personnel all over the world. I also developed backlog and turn around time metrics for our RMA’s; and worked closely with the service technicians to reduce our TAT and the backlog count for our customers. Developed projected component usage requirements based off of historical data and entered demand accordingly. Performed cost analysis to ensure standard repair costs are up to date so that finance can accurately estimate profitability/ set fixed pricing.Using Microsoft SQL Service I helped with the Datawarehouse project. Using tables extracted out of SAP I created dozens of building blocks (views and custom tables) which I used to create complex reports that SQVI wasn’t able to accomplish. Some of my reports included WO Costs Analysis, Overall RMA Report, and WO TAT Analysis, Return to Vendor(RTV) TAT Analysis, Labor and Component (by serial number) Usage in Service WO’s, that report helped with my next one, As-Maintained BOM.Subject Matter Expert for SAP Exchange/ Repairs process.Trained global team on the new SAP solution.Forecast inventory requirements for part repairs and exchanges.Create weekly/ monthly metrics to optimize inventory and improve labor utilization.Create production and inter-company purchase orders.Facilitate problem solving for order management.Manage numerous shared files which are used for reporting and solving backlog issues.Created many Microsoft SQL Server Reports used by everybody from VP’s to Service Techs.Created end to end swim lane diagrams for the Exchange/ Repair process.
Supply Chain Scheduler
The EST team helps to increase company profits by facilitating a leaner way of doing business.Additionally it helps to decrease the carbon footprint across the globe. An EST Scheduler is responsible for the movement of goods to and from Dow's physical plants as well as the logical(virtual plant). I am responsible for working with Dow's suppliers, customers, and subsidiaries on a daily basis. Using a variety of transactions in SAP and in constant communication with the suppliers etc. I exchange, swap, or toll Dow products. If you are unfamiliar with this it then I will provide an example of a swap. For instance lets say Dow produces product K in the United States while another chemical company produces product K in Europe. Instead of us shipping product K to Dow's customers in Europe from America we would have the other chemical company create it and ship it to Dow's customers in Europe. We would do likewise for the other chemical company's customers in the United States. It creates huge savings on shipping costs as well as shortens lead times greatly.I also helped my Dow team with their transition from SAP R2 to SAP R3. This was a difficult and tedious process. My knowledge of SAP was of great value to my team in helping them with the transition.
Graduate Student Assistant
I was a graduate assistant for the Marketing and the Management departments.I had the opportunity to teach several class sessions on subjects such as MRP and network design, and demand planning.I have helped several professors conduct research into various topics. Some of these topics range from logistical provider websites to how best transport and set up water filtration units in the Dominican Republic for families and small villages.I have also aided many professors in grading exams, research papers and homework. Some of the work I did to help them with research was in cleaning up excel data and creating excel formulas and models to help get to the information that they wanted.I also had the pleasure of presenting research on how internship programs benefit stakeholders(the university, the student, and the business) at the Society for Marketing Advances(SMA) conference 2012.
Supply Chain Intern
I used SAP to create STO's and PO's. I was in contact with the customers and when they needed to add on additional product or expedite the shipping I created the STO's and PO's to make sure the product would reach them in time. I also created shipping orders with FedEx and UPS if they needed faster shipping than our carriers could provide.I worked globally with suppliers to ensure accuracy of the material's data such as the weight and volume of the unit, case, and skid. This project was projected to save the company $100K+ per year. I worked with the global parts project team to create innovative solutions to logistics and supplier issues. These solutions help to ensure that logistical planning such as utilization is accurate so the planners can minimize cost.My main daily task was to plan shipments to both local and global customers. I utilized SAP's Delivery Dashboard among other things to make sure the product got where it needed to go.My favorite project was planning the network design of the European distribution routes where the team fixed the inefficiencies in the current network design.
