Dependability and Passion. My name is Nathan Smith, and I am a 1st year student at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University – Bloomington. I am currently pursuing a Finance / Real Estate double major with a minor in history. I am an active member of the Financial Services and Real Estate clubs and participate in other activities such as recreational sports on campus.My experiences as secretary of the LEAP club and member of the football team helped me develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. After growing up in the Chicago suburbs, I wanted to expand my opportunities by attending a highly ranked business school. The Kelley School of Business also offers a strong career services department, which will be invaluable when looking for internships and full-time placements. I discovered my passion for commercial real estate through my dad, who exposed me to his work in commercial real estate and the restaurant business at a young age. I am also passionate about taking personal initiative and being collaborative, both of which are highly valued at Kelley. I am strongly grounded by my ethical principles and ensuring a collaborative and inclusive work environment. I thrive in situations that involve working in new settings or with new people, both of which are necessary in commercial real estate. My personal values, skills, and interests of problem-solving skills, quantitative analysis, and communication can complement organizations that are looking for individuals who work well in a variety of settings and tasks . My short-term goals are to excel in classwork at Indiana and gain valuable experience through extracurriculars and internships. My long-term goals after college are to find a workplace that advocates and assists in personal development, provides pathways for advancement within the company, and to find a place where I can add value to the company and to my coworkers. I have a strong passion for commercial real estate that is supported by the skills and values I have developed during my time at the Kelley School of Business.
