I am a journalist studying a Bachelor of Media & Communications majoring in Sports Journalism at La Trobe University.Currently, I’m working full-time at The Guardian newspaper in Swan Hill whilst completing my final semester of university online.At The Guardian, I have been doing stories in all fields of journalism, which has been a great learning experience for me - coming from a sports background.It has allowed me to expand my horizons and skills, making me feel like a much more well-rounded journalist.However, sport is my passion – cricket, AFL, rugby, soccer, darts, horse racing and cycling – are all sports I know a lot about, which, coupled with my natural writing ability, allows me to deliver interesting and informative sports pieces.I have been around sport my whole life growing up at Airport West Football and cricket club, graduating from St. Bernard’s College Essendon and completing an internship at the Coburg Lions Football Club in the VFL.The best part about my job is getting to meet interesting people I would never have had the chance to otherwise and them giving you their trust to tell their story.In the future, I wish to be working somewhere in the sports media industry; whether that is at a newspaper, broadcasting or sporting club/organisation, I feel the skills I have learnt in my time at university, Coburg and The Guardian has made me an adaptable sports journalist who is more than capable of working in presenting, commentating and media team roles.
