In Informatics, I've focused on data science and analytics, as well as database development and administration. My Capstone group of four was hand-selected to present our Capstone project to the Informatics Advisory Board. My data science experience includes working with R, Jupyter Notebook, and Python in order to integrate statistical methods, including t-tests and linear regression, into data analysis and visualization. I also have experience scraping data from open web-based sources, examining and cleaning data, and creating models to determine relationships between variables for several projects, including a final project on gender disparity in the film industry.As for databases, I:- collaborated with my team to design, code, populate and maintain an original database to 3NF using SQL Server 2014;- designed an Entity Relationship (ER) model and created ER diagrams using MS Visio 2010, implemented business rules, and coded stored procedures to populate transactional tables;- developed and deployed production stored procedures utilizing input parameters, variables, error-handling and explicit transactions in order to manage INSERT activity;- created synthetic transactions and test wrappers to validate throughput volume of 100,000+ INSERTS; and - configured SQL jobs, maintenance, and database backup plans to ensure stability and integrity.

Over ten years of active duty service, I was stationed in California, Korea, England, Germany, and Virginia, and was deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan. I held a variety of positions, but in my most recent role, I coordinated intelligence planning for an $11 million exercise program and drove support to 390 personnel. This included representing Air Combat Command (a MAJCOM, or Major Command) at major exercises, and training personnel on how to incorporate Intelligence into the planning process. I also organized and led a 35-hour course to train unit-level targeteers, and continuously identified and documented best practices. While deployed, I revived an older Special Operations Forces database by condensing 78,000 items. The reporting from the new database provided the Combatant Commander with timely, accurate tactical information.Though my jobs were varied over my career, intelligence work requires the identification of client needs, so that we can tailor information for each unit’s different mission. I feel this translates well into project management and data analysis and visualization: if you don't understand the project or the question, how can you tailor your answer to be effective?
