In this role I work on various projects for client delivery and leadership. My concentration is on data engineering, machine learning, automation, and analysis. Here is a selection of projects and work.- Discovered new opportunities for a client to use data engineering and ML to be more efficient. - Led team to give insights into cloud costs, with design and implementation of forecasting. Working closely with stakeholders to understand needs and how to present and understand cloud costs to give better control over spending. A key aspect of this work was to incorporate forecasting of the costs so they could take actions in advance to keep spending under control.- Improvement of claims processing via ML. Working with a team of Data scientist, Data Engineers, Business stakeholders, and analysts. I built and implemented a machine learning model. During this project, I educated the team on ML and explained the functions, strengths, and weakness of the method. Trained various models and tested accuracy. Build infrastructure for ETL, model training, and testing. In addition, I worked with the team to hire full time data scientists and ML engineers who I helped onboard.- Database optimization. I worked with a team to test out methods for improving the database response times to improve the user experience. We implemented various strategies with load/performance testing. I initiated and designed an automated approach for testing. We build this out and it is configurable to allow it to scale for other testing needs. It reduces manual time in testing and improves access to records making comparisons faster and easier.

As a consultant I've worked on a variety of projects. There has been a great diversity in the structure of the team, industry, technologies, and objectives. Here are some examples of the types of work that I've done.- Developing a Facial Recognition system using AWS services to interface with physical security systems. Where I helped led and design the project.- Building an IoT service with visualizations to monitor and automate the system. This service incorporated physical hardware and enabled the user to have less down time by providing real time information and alerts about status. - Creating automated systems to enhance image data; extracting relevant features, adding labels, editing meta-data. Which enabled the client to shift to modern data practices and supply a back-end database for a customer facing app.- Helping a client better understand and use their data, by building out ETL pipelines to support a data lake.- Reviewed logistics to assess optimization opportunities. This was accomplished by analysis of historical shipping patterns. With different optimization strategies where simulated on the dataset and asses for efficiences.- Document processing workflow, Built POC for automated document processing to extract relevant information. This was accomplished using cloud technologies and basic NPL which had the ability to write to a database. Which improved the data quality on the backend and improved processing time. And we build out a working system for the client based on this.- Refactored Machine Learning POC for production - took existing ML model, re-analyzed data, model performance, re-structured code to for scalability and processed this into a Production product. This enabled quicker, cheaper, and more reliable claims processing.
