As a project engineer at GEI, I have a variety of tasks including: design of new earthen embankments, design of retrofits and rehabilitation to existing dams and spillways including alternatives analyses, and other large design projects. These project typically include detailed reporting, designing and drafting in AutoCAD Civil 3D, material quantity takeoff, field reconnaissance, and field construction observation. In addition to design projects, I have performed a number of 1D and 2D hydraulic analyses in HEC-RAS, and hydrologic analyses in HEC-HMS. I am involved in training junior staff and managing tasks for a variety of projects and disciplines.

I worked with other engineers to design tailings storage facilities. This involved significant modeling, quantity estimation, data reduction of field logs, and engineering estimation. Additionally, I constructed water balance models in GoldSim for tailings storage facilities, accounting for water expenditures and inputs. This helps in the material balance accounting, as well as future planning.

I researched variables that can change the deposition geometry of alternatively disposed tailings. The main focus of the research was paste and thickened tailings. However, this research necessitated a baseline understanding of conventional, high rate and high density thickeners used for conventional disposal.
