The customer acquisition strategy was to attract local consumers who would prefer to shop close to home, as well as the 1 million plus outdoor recreation visitors traveling to the area.Our strategic advantage was a sales staff of highly educated experts in their chosen field, who delivered exceptional levels of service and superior expertise in comparison to the national chains. Our marketing strategy focused on building/ nurturing relationships and CRM principles, including direct mail circulars, post cards, radio, television, billboard, and social media campaigns.Product categories included firearms, hunting, archery, fishing, hiking, camping, kayaks, and apparel, to compete with national retailers like Bass Pro Shops, Academy, Dick’s, Gander Mountain and Cabela’s. Our ability to offer similar and often times, better pricing than the national chains, resulted from our membership in a prestigious buying group that afforded us significant purchasing power.
