Notable responsibilities include: • Providing leadership and direction in the development of environmental and energy policy for Duke Energy particularly in Water, and Natural Resources.• Proactively identifying, analyzing, and communicating energy policy issues and risks which may significantly impact the corporation and, in coordination with key business units, develop the corporation’s position and execute strategic action plans to effectively manage risks and/or promote the corporation’s interests.• Leading the analysis to support the corporation’s comments on proposed federal rules and regulations by working collaboratively and effectively internally across key business units.• Producing and then executing an external engagement plan such that the corporation is deliberate, efficient, and effective in its investment in long-term relationships with key external stakeholders, such as industry groups, environmental advocates, peer utilities and others who impact the opportunities and risks related to water quality, water supply, effluent limits, natural resource and permitting/siting issues for generation, transmission, renewable energy, energy storage, grid modernization and decommissioning projects.• Publicly representing the company and promoting the corporation and its interests (and/or ensuring appropriate representation, as needed) at meetings of energy and environmental stakeholders (e.g., stakeholder forums, industry groups, regulatory agencies) and ensuring that such engagement is deliberate, efficient and effective.

Notable responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Leading a multidisciplinary team for the development of regulatory comments, policy documents, and internal and external communications on federal environmental policy,• Providing internal and external presentations to leadership and stakeholders on pending changes to federal policy, • Developing and co-leading teams to implement federal environmental initiatives, • Analyzing future regulatory changes and providing expert guidance on the implications to the company,• Negotiating workable solutions with government regulators,• Authoring strategy documents to implement new initiatives, and• Providing customer support on complex issues to several electric-generating facilities.
