  • Wvdhhr
    Lead Software Developer
    Wvdhhr Sep 2012 - Jun 2014
    Us
Developed a framework architecture used by several teams for developing ASP.NET MVC based web applications that have the requirement of minimal data transferred between server and client in order to be responsive over even the least optimal network connections. The framework allows for the very quick and easy development of web based forms for collecting information. It utilizes a client-side MVVM pattern and AJAX for transporting only minimal necessary data back and forth between server and client for maximum efficiency and response times. To further improve the load times, I developed a custom HTML template caching framework for use with client-side templating scripts such as Handlebars and Kendo UI's own templating engine.Along with this framework, I also developed over 20 custom JavaScript and jQuery based form widgets with accompanying MVC Helpers that can be used with a fluent syntax just like Kendo UI server wrappers, for which I also developed wrappers to extend their functionality. The framework is currently used by myself, my team, and 2 other teams for the development of web based SACWIS and Child Care applications used by thousands of Social Workers for the state of West Virginia.
  • Wvmi(West Virginia Medical Institute)
    Lead Web Applications Developer
    Wvmi(West Virginia Medical Institute) Nov 2009 - Sep 2012
    Charleston, Wv, Us
Developed an application for collecting information from thousands medical records by nurses for evaluating the quality of healthcare received by patents. Initially web-based, I converted this application to WPF so that it would be portable to areas without internet connectivity as many nurses would use the application in hospital record rooms. The nurses would then synchronize their data with a master database once an internet connection became available.I wrote the application to allow non-technical people to create the forms (we called the forms an "Instrument") so that they could be created quickly by the people most knowledgeable about the study. It made heavy use of a custom rule engine that determined what questions needed to be answered based upon the answers given to other fields as well as validating the answers against other data collected. All of the rules are written in a custom language and stored in a SQL database. They are parsed in real time into T-SQL using a CLR stored procedure.Since each entire instrument is stored in SQL, it can be packaged up as XML or distributed via web-service to remote versions of the application that use SQLExpress. This allows us to not have to do a new build of the application each time an instrument is created or changed and the instruments can be assigned to specific users.I was also in charge of creating and maintaining, but not content updating, several corporate websites that were based on either Kentico CMS or Sharepoint 2010 as well as creating other web applications for reporting travel and expenses and reporting Home Health Quality statistics.Although I left my position at WVMI in 2012, I remained a per-diem employee in order to continue support for the applications I wrote until the end of 2013.
