Technology due diligence for private equity

Built an engineering team of ~30 to deliver IT workflow and automation software for SMB's. Was responsible for the core web product and internal data analytics function.

Various analytics and NLP projects geared toward increasing operational efficiency of Electric's core IT support product.

Built data-driven SaaS features, including software to identify adverse events in building operations using unsupervised learning. Was also technical lead on a research collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley Lab, focused on operationalizing physics-based energy models.

Developed a feature for measurement & verification of energy efficiency projects, based on statistical forecasting methods. Also built out Lucid's internal data infrastructure along with operational metrics and dashboards.

Modeled behind-the-meter energy storage projects. Built a mixed-integer linear program using Python/Pyomo to perform battery sizing and optimize contractual obligations.

Built and marketed a SaaS product to help commercial and industrial electricity buyers save money by avoiding coincident-peak demand charges.

Led cross-functional task force focused on compliance with ISO New England (ISO-NE) real-time data submission requirements and data quality standards. Contributed financial and regulatory analysis toward a strategic initiative to unwind $80M+ in existing market positions. Taught a few workshops on using R for statistical analysis and risk management in the context of demand response markets.

Managed market operations for EnerNOC's demand response portfolio in New England. Held a mix of financial risk analysis, forecasting, and reporting responsibilities, all of which required detailed understanding of market rules and the regulatory environment. Developed a Monte Carlo approach for auction strategy analysis, which contributed to securing $30M+ in revenue via New England's Forward Capacity Market.

I was responsible for demand response settlement process with EnerNOC's utility customers. In other words, I spent 6 months as a human calculator. I got comically good at Excel, automated a few processes with VBA, then moved on to better things.

Modeled effects of electricity prices and water supply on hydroelectric pumped storage operation as a contributor to a PG&E transmission planning study. Produced technical documentation for MATLAB code used in simulation-based study on economic and operational impact of high penetrations of intermittent renewable energy resources.

Automated statistical analysis of wind energy forecast data using VBA. Evaluated forecast accuracy as part of project to select a third party wind forecast contractor.
