Nathaniel Bivan Email and Phone Number
I’m an author and journalist specialized in solutions and conflict reporting. I was a features reporter and later an arts editor for Daily Trust Newspaper, where I worked for almost a decade. I was also a features editor at HumAngle Media for almost half a decade, where I was a pioneer head of the solutions journalism desk. Some of my most impactful reports include The Polarized City and The Divided City series, which were investigations of how the two northern Nigerian cities of Jos and Kaduna are polarized along religious lines and the attempts by various groups and individuals to blur their imaginary boundaries. I'm currently an independent journalist who mainly contributes to international platforms including The Christian Science Monitor.A graduate of History from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, I have received both national and international trainings on solutions journalism. I was a participant in the second cohort of newsrooms training under the Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative (SJNI) supported by the Solutions Journalism Network, New York, U.S.A in 2021. On Feb. 16, 2024, I featured as a guest trainer on SJN’s global train the trainers program for certified trainers. Currently, I am a mentor/coach training journalists in the News Agency of Nigeria in the third phase of the SJNI. In 2024, I also mentored journalists from Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria in a collaborative reporting project along the boundaries of climate change and public health solutions.I am the founder and publishing director at Room Three Press, a Christian publishing outfit. As an author, I have published five books – a novel titled 'Boys, Girls and Beasts' (2024); a chapbook '20 Love Letters to the Christian Fiction Writer' (2024); 'My Time as Chaplain: An Account of Venerable Obioma Onwuzurumba' (2022), a former Senior Special Assistant to the then president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan; The World Has Eyes (2011), a novella; and Flower Blind, a children’s picture story book (2018).
