As a media relations intern for St. Edward's Athletics, I am in charge of moderating communication and video live stream between the organization and various media outlets such as newspapers, radio broadcasts, as well as television stations. I set up for all sporting events ensuring that all aspects of media are readily available before the sporting event begins. Along with that, I update the scores, statistics, and videotape the live stream for online viewers to stay updated and watch sporting events. Also, I was in charge of working and running the Concession Stands at sporting events that took place at St. Edwards. I contributed to this organization by maintaining an inventory of goods and keeping track of sales as well as expenditures that occurred on any given day. I helped design an efficient system to correctly record sales and keep inventory per sporting event. Throughout the course of this internship, I learned how to professionally set up a sporting event and the importance of customer satisfaction. Each sporting event demands a certain way to set up, videotape, and broadcast each game. For St. Edward's fans to watch their favorite sport's team online, each technological gadget must be set up to perfection to work properly. Over the course of five months, I have perfected setting up each sporting event, so that fans watching online will be satisfied. When friends, families, and fans come to watch sporting events live, it is crucial to give each person a positive experience. I learned that a positive first impressions not only impresses customers, or fans for this case, but it enlightens their experience, which makes these fans want to come back for another game. This internship has shown me, at first hand, the skills needed to be a media relations employee. These five months have been an eye-opening experience in which I have gained knowledge and skills needed for any occupation.
