My role as a SWO at VBH is to support nursing staff with patients who have been assessed as presenting a potential risk to themselves and or others and require an increased level of observation. Engage and execute de-escalation tactics and perform crisis’ interventions when deemed appropriate while maintaining communication with multiple different clinical psychiatric units.

Managed and provided Therapeutic Mentoring services to cases where individuals are struggling emotionally and socially. Implemented practices such as talk therapy, social exposure/ engagement, and CBT

Working with Clients through their treatment plan, implementing Mental Health Skill Building interventions and strategies . In addition to working through their own plan, staff provides assistance in services such as but not limited to helping clients with their day-to-day challenges and activities while collaborating with their Psychiatrists and Case Managers. Managing communication between other providers to ensure the best treatment option is being implemented within services the client is receiving. As well as performing crisis stabilization and interventions when needed. All while maintaining healthy therapeutic rapport with clients and professional communication with supervision and clinicians.

Managing/providing direct support and need for young teen group-home residents who are deemed too “high-risk” for either foster homes or their own home environment. This includes teaching the children necessary life skills and provide for their physical daily care, assistance in treatment planning for each child and improving children’s behavior through coping skills and other therapeutic interventions.

Observed counseling sessions across various ages and walks of life, in both individual and group settings, as well as the authorization process for MHSS and PSR. In addition to completing assessments made by supervisor and imputing them into digital formats.
