PRIMARY FUNCTION-Provide air traffic control services as a Control Tower Operator (CTO) at KRYM (Camp Ripley, MN) for ArmyAir National Guard aviation operations providing safety of flight and traffic separations and sequencing in class“D” airspace between IFR and VFR aircraft.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS-Provided air traffic services using established priorities to aircraft arriving, departing or practicing approaches.-Maintained positive control of aircraft within designated ATC assigned airspace and communicates with adjacent facilities to transmit and receive instructions and information relative to flight. -Applied appropriate separation minima IAW applicable FAA or Military directives.-Alerted airport emergency crews and other designated personnel while handling unexpected events, emergencies and unscheduled traffic.-Provided current and forecasted weather phenomena to aircraft.-Formulated and issued all ground movement instructions to aircraft on the ground, vehicles and personnel operating within the controlled movement areas.-Maintained and disseminated records of daily operations.

DUTIES:-Provide terminal air traffic control services to United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and Foreign National training pilots.ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND RELATED SKILLS:-Promptly obtained a Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certification at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (KNGP)tower in less than half the allotted training time.-Directly contributed to the safe completion of over 150,000 annual flight operations resulting in zero mishaps.-Qualified on all control positions in under half the allotted time to include local control, ground control, flight data, clearance delivery, radar final controller, sector controller, and radar supervisor.-Communicated to pilots, utilizing air traffic control phraseology, instruction, necessary to approve vertical, lateral, and longitudinal separation.-Issued weather reports, runway information, type approach, lost communication, and missed approachprocedures to be used.-Provided air traffic control services (radar/tower) to aircraft for separation, navigational guidance or assistance, and to establish landing sequence.-Coordinated and transferred control responsibilities to adjacent terminal facilities.-Provided assistance to controllers under instruction (trainees) acquiring the required knowledge and technical skills needed to become qualified. Instructed 38 trainees who qualified on average 40 percent less than their allotted training time.-Maintained currency and proficiency requirements as established by the Air Traffic Control Facility Officer(ATCFO).

DUTIES:-Conducted approach and departure control to and from the USS Boxer during instrument meteorological conditions. Conducted Precision Approach Radar (PAR) and Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR) approaches to the ship. Responsible for maintaining status and tactical control of all aircraft not assigned to Combat Information Center/Tactical Air Control Center.ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND RELATED SKILLS:-Ensured 52,113 flight operations on board the USS Boxer were completed without incident.-Selected as the 2016 Commander, Naval Surface Forces Admiral Robert B. Pirie Naval Air Traffic Controller Of The Year. -Rapidly progressed through an arduous training syllabus, FULLY qualifying in under 50% of the allotted NATOPS training time as Amphibious Air Traffic Control Center Supervisor, Approach Controller, Marshal Controller, Final Controller, and Flight Data Controller.-Personally trained three final controllers and one approach controller.-Supervised watch team that conducted 107 on the job training events resulting in 27 air traffic control qualifications.-Hand selected by the USS America as an exceptional leader to ensure the safe completion of 552 test flights for the F35 and JPALS system while simultaneously qualifying 2 AATCC Supervisors, 1 Approach Controller, and 2 Final Controllers, ensuring mission readiness for their 2017 Deployment. Awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for these accomplishments.

DUTIES:-Responsible for the control, coordination, and separation of all military and civilian aircraft operating within Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Virginia Capes (FACSFAC VACAPES) designated Special Use Airspace (SUA).ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND RELATED SKILLS:-Integral in the successful completion of 74,231 highly complex flight operations annually, covering 80,000square miles of SUA.-Professional knowledge and expertise on en-route ATC procedures considered instrumental in the training and qualification of 34 novice and journeymen controllers, by superiors.-Assisted with the revision of the ATC Facility Manual and 10 Letters of Agreement (LOA) as a member of the Procedures Evaluation Board (PEB) which effectively contributed to the safety and efficiency of FACSFACVACAPES, adjacent ATC facilities and Department of Defense agencies.-The only E-4 and below to obtain a FACSFAC facility rating; receiving qualifications in less than half the allotted time and was additionally qualified as a Radar Supervisor.-Awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal for superior performance as Radar Supervisor.
