In Fall 2023, I worked on individual project focused on studying longitudinal mutant Huntingtin aggregation in the cortex of Huntington’s disease knock-in Q140 mice by sectioning mice brains and performing immunohistochemical staining for imaging. Additionally, I perform PCR of DNA samples for mouse models of Huntington's disease and identified expression of genes related to Huntington's disease through genotype analysis. I also perform brain coronal sectioning of the striatum of Huntington’s disease mice. I also develop neuronal reconstructions by utilizing MORF reconstruction technology and software. I assist with observational study and data collection of different mouse models of Huntington’s disease. Additionally, I am involved with data analysis and interpretation for different mouse lines.

Road to Med provides free online webinars during the pandemic to help students who are interested in pursuing medicine to prepare for college applications and beyond. We assist other students by helping them realize their medical career path, improve their college application, consider factors to focus on regarding college, and prepare them on what to focus on in college to get into medical school.

In Summer 2023, served as camp lead - was in charge of communicating with parents, running/organizing camp activities, and managing behavior issues and injuries of children. I also worked as lead for the Teen After School Program to provide structured activities for middle and high school students.

As a paid employee for the City of Vancouver, I worked with Firstenburg and Marshall Community Center through their annual summer and winter camps by leading groups of young children through various activities and games. I generally was responsible for managing and interacting with children with disabilities, such as ADHD, autism, and social anxiety. I learned organization, punctuality, and flexibility through strict and demanding work schedules. Additionally, I further developed leadership and teamwork skills by working with other leaders.

I helped create classes for the Youth Hand in Hand non-profit organization to provide free online lessons of a variety of topics for all ages during the pandemic in 2020. With schools closed, we provided structure for students and kept them engaged in learning. Over 400 students attended our classes. As an instructor, I taught Neurology, AMC 8, and SAT Math. I am on the board of directors as the only Academic Consultor. Additionally, I earned the President's Bronze Volunteer Service Award.

I assisted with neuropsychological management and administrative tasks. Specifically, I gained experience in contacting patients and aided with scheduling responsibilities. Also, I learned about neuropsychological assessment scoring.

I created in-person and virtual classes to teach important math topics to help coach and teach middle school students prepare for math placement and various math competitions. The students have the opportunity to learn challenging math concepts outside of school.

Course Name: Understanding the Brain- The Neurobiology of Everyday LifeConducted by University of Chicago through Coursera, this 10-week course covered aspects of the neurology throughout the body and how they allow us to sense our world. I learned about different ailments their effects and analyzed the neurological processes that may have affected my aunt, who died of meningitis. I have earned a course certificate and received 100% grade.
