At Knome, we devise, build, and use new tools to richly annotate and flexibly compare individual human genomes, in order to glean insight from them. My daily duties include:Thinking up new ways to make sense of genome sequence data, especially through sensible filtering and engaging visualization;Working closely with a team of talented software engineers, to instill key biological understanding into our code;Analyzing genome sequences for researchers, in order to shortlist candidate sequence variants that may help cause diseases and other phenotypes;Analyzing genomes for private families, to help them understand their health profiles and ancestry, as scientific knowledge advances;Writing and editing informative content to convey insights from genome analysis to clients;Managing research team personnel.
