Invented and developed high pressure laser implantation transformation of advanced materials, laser metallization and direct write platform for energy, electronic and photonic materials processing that improves yields and reduces supply chain footprint. This drives bandgap engineering and new device design for power electronics, LEDs and light emitting materials, smart antennas, nonmetallic conductors, wireless sensors, CO2 gas dissociators, semiconductor catalysts, nanoparticle energy converters for medical therapy and superconductor processing. Inventor or co-inventor on 43 patents; 4 in process. Team member that negotiated exclusive licensing agreements with the University of Central Florida obtaining exclusive rights to all co-inventions. Team member that negotiated joint development agreement with Lee Laser (subsidiary of Coherent). Team member that negotiated licensing options and licensing of light emitting material intellectual property. Elected a Fellow and 2010 President of the Laser Institute of America .

Reorganized and aligned R&D programs (metallic membranes, advanced alloy fibers, and alloy tow) with marketing to accelerate new product implementation. Redirected new product development to high temperature, high pressure, corrosive filtration applications and non-filtration devices including metallic gas-gas separation membranes, catalyst carriers; coaxial capacitors; sensors; and nanofibers. Implemented joint development programs with international labs, national labs and universities. Implemented new cost reducing continuous fiber processes. Rejuvenated and expanded the technology bases covered by intellectual property resulting in 11 patents granted in FY2001, nearly doubling the previous patent total over the prior 15 years. Inventor or co-inventor on a total of 16 patents. Converted R&D to a revenue generating center by contracting its services to private sector companies. Presented R&D strategies to international financial analysts and stockholders.
