My daily routine consisted of an incredible array of enjoyable work inside of an abandoned Waterpark located in Rotterdam. From day to day I collected, processed and inoculated local coffee waste with Oyster mushroom spawn. I then grew, harvested and sold those mushrooms for Rotterzwam, and helped with networking as well. I also assisted several other small projects there with Vermiculture, Urban Farming, and Enzyme collection. Each day was busier and more dynamic than the last, and there was never a dull moment.

Seattle

I was an assistant to Aaron, the owner of Intrigue Chocolate Co., and I helped weekly with the process of chocolate making. I would help Aaron set-up and break down the kitchen, as well as assist him in the truffle making process. I also participated in his evening classes on flavor. While at intrigue I also worked on marketing, shipments, organization, and tours. I assisted in the cleaning and maintenance of the facility as well.

Greater Seattle Area

I worked in an upscale neighborhood vegetarian/vegan restaurant preparing local and sustainable foods. I focused on high quality desserts and appetizers and regularly served upwards of 80 guests a night.

Greenville, South Carolina Area

I was a production associate manufacturing BMW’s X3 SAV. I assembled engine parts, and carefully inspected all automobiles for defects and errors. I was part of a large unified team in a Zero-waste-to-landfill Plant.

While at DoeBay, (Seasonal-Summer) I worked as a Breakfast cook and prep cook. I created delicious baked goods as well as prepare a huge variety of breakfast items. I was also fortunate enough to enjoy time in the DB Garden, DB Cafe's most local source for quality organic food.

Nate’s goal for his internship was to learn how to curate natural history collections. He learned this and so much more. Nate learned how the National Park Service curates natural history collections and their associated records and reports. He spent the first few weeks assisting with the processing of an archival collection where he had to learn archival arrangement and organization, provenience tracking, and re-housing techniques. During his internship, Nate proved to be a quick learner, a detailed oriented individual, efficient, and hardworking. His colleagues, and I, enjoyed every minute working with him and his work with the park’s natural history collection was invaluable to the long term preservation of the collection."
