This was a short contract where I worked to improve a project that I started when I worked for Cook previously. I was given this contract because I was able to provide better support than the companies official support in Australia.

At this company I was the responsible for:• Researching and finding new technologies that could be used by the company to solve problems. (Including LMS, VoIP, CMS & Virtual Classrooms)• Configuring and maintaining multiple servers: Web server, file server, email server, backup server, print server, etc.• Working with Vendors and Service Providers to met an agreed service level agreement and solve various problems.

During my time at Cook I was able to make a number of significant changes. • Migrated from a peer to peer authentication system to a Samba PDC and then to an Active Directory 2 years later.• Implemented an internal email system with spam protection.• Upgraded the network from a flat network to a routed network with subnets that facilitated a move to VoIP the following year.• Redesigned the network to increase security by monitoring traffic.• Researched and implemented a digital document storage system for 1 Terabyte of data.• Migrated from a manual reporting system to an automated web based reporting system. This allowed us to produce substantially more reports in less time with fewer errors.• Create margin reports to allow the company to focus on its most profitable products.• Researched and implemented a prototype thin client system to reduce costs in production.

At uptime games I created:• Researched, configured and deployed two sites with over 70 computers.• Connected the two sites and implemented “source based” Quality of Service.• Built a “Software Deployment System” using Perl, rsync and Apache.• Built a “Licensing Server” using Perl, Apache and XML-RPC.• Installed a Samba “Primary Domain Controller” at two site authenticating over 10,000 users.
