I believe that students are more engaged in learning when they are taught by someone that is passionate about the topic being covered. I try to bring that to my classroom by linking what I am teaching to experiences that I have had in the corporate environment and by constantly learning and trying new things in the classroom. I can also answer questions that students have when they go beyond the syllabus.I am constantly pushing the envelope and experimenting with new technology. My current passion is looking at how Virtual Reality can be used in the classroom. Feel free to contact me if you are also interested in this topic.I enjoy linking my subject to other subjects like explaining how important the scientific process is and mathematics can be used to analyse data in various computer algorithms. That being said I think it is important that students learn that computers and maths are merely tools to be used not an end in themselves. Part of my job is to help students realise when different techniques should be used and how to communicate the results. To that end, I try to encourage my students to extend themselves beyond the classroom and improve their communication skills by joining a public speaking group or other activities offered at school. If my students can communicate well and have technical skills then I believe they will be prepared for today’s global economy.
