As the Submarine Battery Engineering Support Lead, developed corrective actions, measures, and analyses to track battery performance across the fleet to achieve and sustain the highest attainable battery performance. Lead the interface between the customer and the engineering team in developing corrective actions best suited for individual battery sets based on the Navy’s need to meet schedule and mission deadlines. Collaborated with various ship design yards to determine changes necessary to both the electrical and mechanical systems to safely and efficiently maintain operations to the ships battery set.As a Fleet Operations Engineer performed failure mode analysis on the main storage batteries from multiple vendors. Findings are reported to NAVSEA and vendors for future design changes to enable improved and sustainable performance. Determined high failure rate components and testing to replicate and quantify failure, findings are submitted to the cognizant vendors and assistance is provided to determine successful design.

As the lead electrician on board a nuclear powered submarine lead a division of nine sailors to proficiently operate and repair the ships electrical system to include a 300V battery to provide ship propulsion in the event of an emergency, 3,000 KW turbine generator set, 1,000 KW marine diesel and the ships electrical distribution system. As a leader within the engineering department, coordinated operations and maintenance between the forward and aft departments to maintain the needs of a fast passed ships schedule and the needs to safely operate an reactor powered propulsion unit.

Hand selected from the Nuclear Training Pipeline to serve as a crew member on board, the one of a kind ,Submarine NR-1. While on board served as a member of the interior communication and data systems division, maintaining all electronics equipment in the forward compartment to include Sonar, Exterior lighting, Ships Control, Video Recording and Communication. Second half of the tour was transferred to the lead electrical division through a shipyard availability. Was responsible for scheduling and performing corrective and preventive maintenance on electrical distribution and power generation equipment.
