Partner
Director Of Community Engagement And Business Development
In 2016, Futureworks NYC partnered with international makerspace operator TechShop, Inc to open a 20,000 sq ft advanced manufacturing center in Sunset Park Brooklyn. I joined the TechShop team to build the TechShop Brooklyn community and establish industry partnerships ahead of our fall 2017 opening. I designed and executed our marketing, community, business development, and public relations strategies; brokered partnerships with other makerspaces, startups, and enterprises; and oversaw our inward and outward facing community building activities. Two weeks after we opened to the public, the leadership team at TechShop, Inc. announced they were shutting the company down and declaring bankruptcy. TechShop Brooklyn was closed along with TechShop's 10 other US locations.
Head Of Community And Marketing
I joined the Keen Home team a week before the founders pitched their product to the sharks on ABC Shark Tank. I was brought on to develop Keen Home's community and customer service segments and during that first week I set up the team's first support process, blog, and social media strategy. Over the next two years I grew our blog readership to 36,000 from nothing, our mailing list to 20,000 from about a thousand, and led marketing, community, and customer operations. As a member of the leadership team, I played a central role in developing Keen Home's brand voice, marketing strategy, and customer experience. I planned and executed two pre-order campaigns and lead marketing for the company's crowdsourced equity financing campaign through SeedInvest. Additionally, I was the face of Keen Home through their monthly newsletter, automated support emails, and most outgoing communications.
Community Director
I wore a variety of hats as Community Director at Quirky. From leading the Community Support team during rapid growth, to directing community management teams focused on moderation, insights, and invention curation, I oversaw every aspect of the community at Quirky. I worked closely with the Platform Team to build new administrative and community tools that allowed for greater efficiency within the Community Team and engagement with the community online. Additionally, I managed our invention education program and established the Quirky community’s offline presence through Meetups and community outings.
Acting Head Of Customer Service
In early 2014, Quirky leadership decided to split customer service and community management into two teams. I was given two options: become the Head of Customer Service or stay with the community management team. I chose to stay with community management, but held the interim role of Head of CS while we searched for someone to permanently fill the position. I led 35 community managers and customer support reps working in NYC and Schenectady, NY. Ensured future scale and consistency across support channels by leading the launch of a new CRM. Worked with our Systems Team to deploy a new call center platform.Implemented support sub-departments, Logistics, Payments, Community, and Technical Support to streamline support operations and ensure high quality, focused support in these four key areas.
Community Health & Growth Lead
Worked with the Head of Community to segment the support team into three key verticals: Support, Engagement, and Content. Managed an overhaul of community team training materials and launch of an internal team webpage using Google Sites.Established a Code of Conduct for Quirky community members as well as internal moderation guidelines and procedures of the Community Team. Created team metrics, developed a Community dashboard, and launched our first customer satisfaction survey.
Community Ambassador
Supported Quirky's growing community of inventors, influencers, and customers. Helped grow the community team from two to five Community Ambassadors in five months. Built Quirky’s Community Team training materials and on-boarded all new hires. Regularly contributed to the Quirky blog and social channels. Led a rewrite of Quirky help content.
Business Development Manager
Responsible for building relationships with parking garages throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area. Lead guerilla marketing efforts to spread awareness and supported partnership negotiations with big-name automobile brands. Developed viral video marketing strategies, as well as phone and email campaigns focused on user acquisition and increasing parking space inventory.
