The ACHS Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for technology, instructional innovation, and design at ACHS and provides leadership for all information technology matters including Instructional Design (ID) Team, cloud based systems, and vendor relationships. The CIO works in collaboration with the President, Center for Excellence in Teaching, Technology, and Assessment (CETTA), Program Chairs and Faculty, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain an online learning environment that is mission-driven, data-informed, user-centric, flexible, cost-effective, and secure. The CIO uses the latest research and best practices to ensure ACHS online classes provide transformational learning opportunities to students with varied learning styles. And, the CIO ensures that IT systems used by ACHS employees work effectively and serve the institution's vision. This position reports to the President.

The CIO directs the staff in the Information Technology Services department and has the responsibility for the planning and delivery of all academic, administrative, and communication technologies at the University. The Director provides strategic and operational leadership of academic technology at Marylhurst. This includes building close relationships with 15 department chairs, the deans, the university librarian, and the provost, to whom the director reports, facilitating collaboration, communication, and community.With over 40% of Marylhurst's students being fully online, and nearly every course having some online presence, CLT is a critical component of accomplishing the educational mission of the University.Some key responsibilities include:• Managing staff who create faculty development programs, including online tutorials, just-in-time training, and workshops in the appropriate use of learning technologies (adjunct and full-time faculty).• Working closely when establishing new programs, most recently the English & Digital Humanities and Food Systems & Society programs, assisting these programs to design annd identify appropriate teaching methods and technologies.• Coordinating and forwarding a university-wide consultative process implementing ePortfolios in teaching, learning and assessment, involving over 50 faculty, staff and employers. • Maintain an active role as a faculty member, including teaching at least one course per term and serving as co-chair of the Faculty Development Committee.
