My journey to become an actuary is accompanied by my passion for music. Of all the musical ensembles I have been involved in, marching band is the one I enjoy the most. High school marching band changed my life forever. Band has given me skills that consist of more than musical notes and my instrument. Today, I am not afraid to try new things. The skills I learned in teamwork and leadership are invaluable.Currently, I am a senior actuarial science major with minors in finance and mathematics. I passed Exam FM in June 2020, Exam P in January 2021, and Exam IFM in July 2021. I am proud to say that this is my fourth year in the baritone section of the Cornhusker Marching Band and my second year as a Rank Leader on the leadership team. In 2016, I earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouting taught me basic skills through earning merit badges and taught me the importance of teamwork, friendliness, and leadership. I will always wear the Eagle Rank humbly. People, including teachers, often commend me on my strong character. I learned this through scouting.Both band and advancing to the Eagle Scout rank have taught me how to set and achieve goals. This will help me as I diverge further into the actuarial exam field and obtain my goal of becoming a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries. While earning my undergraduate degree, I completed an actuarial internship at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) where I played an integral role in BCBSNE’s individual dental pricing. Currently, I am actively seeking a full-time actuarial role for post-graduation in either life or health insurance.
