I have independently designed and performed an experiment with the goal of determining the effect on bondline thickness on the strength of composite scarf joint repairs.I submitted a proposal which was approved regarding isolating composite damage mechanisms (matrix cracking, fiber pullout, fiber/matrix debond, and fiber break) and correlating them to acoustic emission peak frequencies. This will be performed both across both different laminate architectures and fabric architectures.I am responsible preparing samples for testing. This includes manufacturing tensile and compression test coupons as well as large sandwich beams for 4 point bending tests, cutting coupons from plates, attaching grip tabs, attaching strain gages, and painting samples for DIC when required. I am also responsible to assist new grad students with using the ARAMIS DIC system.

As a Structures Intern, I had projects both in design and analysis. I was responsible for designing the Shim Plan for the 777X Fixed Trailing Edge. Doing so required coordination with design and manufacturing engineers to implement methods that minimized shimming. The resulting plan removed 126 shims per aircraft compared to the standard construction. My analysis project included sizing detail parts for static and fatigue failure based on the preliminary load cycle. I collaborated with the associated design and analysis engineers to attain the required margin of safety for the parts.

Responsible for management of multiple projects beginning with scope development. Estimation of project costs as well as general design are required. Communication with vendors and contractors is also necessary for completion of projects.
