After 20 years in the packaging field I have managed to convince my children that packaging is fun, exciting and important. Nothing at all like the cardboard factory from the "Simpsons!" Having been involved with clients at all levels I have built an extensive understanding of what is important when it comes to successful packaging.I strive to have a part in reducing waste and generating iconic brand defining packaging on a daily basis.My main focus in the last few years has been a human approach to packaging design and sustainability through a process I created called "Practical Creativity". Practical Creativity is the business of innovating for real world packaging applications. It is an understanding of all aspects of packaging design, materials, production, and logistics; allowing the generation of creative packaging concepts that remain consistent through to delivery.Specialties: I have a vast experience in manufacturing and its limitations with a drive to always push new ideas and concepts. I have been involved in all materials from plastics to paper pulp, bullrush fibre to corrugate. I have an extensive knowledge of all aspects of printing from Flexo to Gravure and can utilise all major software brands to generate accurate, desirable and saleable packaging solutions.

This covered Structural and Graphic design over a multimaterial base. Through a program of logistic optimization and material re evaluation I was able to reduce costs for all of our key clients without jeopardizing aesthetic or quality. I introduced innovative materials such as Paperfoam to a number of key clients and took ideas through to production. I gained a huge understanding of the industry by working extensively with contract manufacturers throughout Europe. I held group wide innovation seminars and ran targeted company wide workshops for specific key client challenges. Through the four step process implemented by our team of three, we helped educate and lift the level of design throughout the organization. -

I implemented a number of software improvements and developed the brand "Creative" which enabled our team to step outside the corrugated factory impression. I introduced new materials and worked with other UK offices to offer full packaging solutions. I was part of the UK design management group and regularly presented at company seminars. In conjunction with my design team we reduced significant cost through board grade enhancements and logistic improvements. -

I worked extensively with the overseas office of Sony, Panasonic and Toshiba to regionalize some of the standards that were not applicable to european supply. Through justification and extensive testing this resulted in 500k of savings throughout the consumer electronics portfolio. -
